Living In Another World With A Farm Chapter 8308: Observation _1

Previously on Living In Another World With A Farm...
Upon arriving at the Island of Blood Bones, Zhao Hai and Yan Bei discover that the territory has been completely devastated and its inhabitants massacred. A massive mountain of corpses has been erected in the center of the island, guarded by scavenger beasts and marking the total destruction of Yan Bei’s former home. Despite his overwhelming grief and rage, Yan Bei decides to leave the bodies undisturbed to avoid alerting their enemies of their presence. Concerned by Yan Bei’s unstable emotional state and the danger it poses to their mission, Zhao Hai drugs his companion’s drink to force him into a deep sleep. He places Yan Bei within the safety of the blood lotus and sets a course for the Blood Massacre Sect’s territory, leaving behind a message explaining that Yan Bei must recover his composure while Zhao Hai continues the investigation alone. Now isolated in the West Sea, Zhao Hai prepares to track down the Slaughter God Saber and face those responsible for the massacre.

Zhao Hai navigated through the blood sea, maintaining a moderate pace while keeping a vigilant watch on his surroundings. In truth, constant vigilance wasn't strictly necessary, as he was flanked by patrolling undead and Xenomorphs. The undead were visible, but the Xenomorphs had achieved perfect camouflage within the crimson mist of the blood sea, rendering them invisible to any observer. Because of this hidden protection, he felt no need to rush.

Earlier, Zhao Hai had dismissed Yan Bei, noticing the man's agitated state of mind. He realized that keeping Yan Bei around would only invite complications or potential danger. Furthermore, Yan Bei’s presence restricted the use of certain secret techniques. By sending him away, Zhao Hai gained the freedom to employ his full range of abilities.

The slow speed of his flight was intentional, as Zhao Hai was focused on the internal developments of the Space. This particular evolution was critical for the boundless space, requiring his utmost attention. While he had previously only grasped the surface-level changes, he was now beginning to perceive deeper transformations.

The most prominent shift occurred within the spiritual Qi. Zhao Hai observed a profound transition in the interspace’s energy, specifically the stark contrast between life and death. This duality could be interpreted as the balance of Yin and Yang, and its emergence had fundamentally altered the spiritual Qi throughout the entire interspace. Consequently, the concentration of spiritual Qi within the Space now far exceeded that of the blood sea.

Furthermore, the fundamental laws had shifted. This did not refer to the external law powers Zhao Hai currently wielded, but rather the intrinsic laws of the Space itself. Previously, Zhao Hai’s spatial laws were relatively rudimentary; however, following this upgrade, they had surpassed the level of the blood sea realm. This was a startling realization. It meant that if his Space were compared to other realms on an equal plane, it would hold a superior rank to the blood sea realm.

Beyond these shifts, there was a burgeoning comprehension of the Dao. Although Zhao Hai had often spoken of seeking the Dao, he had previously only grasped its outer layer—the power of law. The law powers utilized by cultivators in the blood sea realm were merely fragments of the true Dao. With the Space’s advancement, his insight into the Dao had reached a new depth. This newfound clarity was why he perceived the essence of the Dao within the trees and grass upon first inspecting the upgraded Space. Every living thing now seemed to resonate with the will of the Dao.

This resonance was so powerful that even Laura and the others had entered a state of meditative seclusion after gaining their own enlightenments. While Zhao Hai’s own understanding of the Dao continued to mature, he did not remain stationary. He allowed his body to drift forward, which accounted for his leisurely pace.

Zhao Hai understood that this path of comprehension would be long. Once he arrived at Impermanence Island, he would need to concentrate on his mission, leaving the deeper study of the Dao for later. He was well aware that this entire transformation had been sparked by that singular, small stone.

While the stone itself might not have possessed immense power, the Space didn't require raw energy; it needed a blueprint for a new power structure. The stone acted as the necessary catalyst. Once it was absorbed and the Space processed this new paradigm of power, an automatic upgrade was triggered. This self-evolving nature remained the Space’s most formidable attribute.

After ten days of travel, Zhao Hai finally neared Impermanence Island. During the latter half of the journey, he shifted his focus from the Dao back to the physical world, significantly increasing his speed. This allowed him to reach the island's perimeter within the ten-day mark.

Impermanence Island was frequently referred to as Blood Ghost Island, following the Blood Slaughter Sect's tradition of naming islands with the prefix "Blood." However, Yin Impermanence and his followers preferred the name Impermanence Island, using it as a mark of their unique identity within the sect.

Instead of approaching the island directly, Zhao Hai withdrew his undead army. He then dispatched Xenomorphs to scout the perimeter, intending to gather intelligence before committing to a plan of action.

The reports from his scouts were unexpected. Impermanence Island appeared entirely mundane. There was no sign of mobilization or tension; life seemed to carry on as it always had. It was as if they hadn't betrayed the Blood Slaughter Sect at all, and no state of war existed. The atmosphere was eerily peaceful.

To Zhao Hai, this tranquility felt deceptive. Even though the Blood Sea Alliance possessed two powerful experts, their total strength paled in comparison to the Blood Slaughter Sect. It made no sense for the island to be so relaxed. Suspicious of the calm, Zhao Hai decided to maintain a distance and observe for a few more days.

He spent three days hidden in the blood sea, watching the island intently. The peace remained unbroken. He noted that the inhabitants were indeed going about their business normally, with most disciples utilizing the teleportation array for travel. Only a handful chose to fly to and from the island.

Despite the lack of activity, Zhao Hai knew he couldn't simply walk onto the island. He suspected there were hidden security measures in place. If the island used specialized detection arrays or if the disciples had been issued new identity tokens, he would be walking into a trap. Given that a powerful expert resided there, such a risk was unacceptable.

On the fourth day, Zhao Hai identified a target: a disciple in the Foundation Establishment realm. This individual appeared to be a death warrior assigned to a crystal mine located a short distance from the island. Because the mine's output was low and its location was nearby, no teleportation array had been established there, and security was minimal.

Tracking the man through the blood sea, Zhao Hai waited until he was well away from the island and en route to the mine. He then commanded a Xenomorph to ambush the man, instructing it to consume half the body before retreating. Zhao Hai then moved to a secure location to monitor the remains through the Xenomorph’s senses, waiting to see how the island would react to the death.

Shortly after the death warrior fell, several figures emerged from the island. Led by a cultivator in the profound Qi realm, they flew directly to the site of the killing. This confirmed Zhao Hai’s suspicions, but he remained motionless, watching silently.

The search party arrived at the exact location of the body with surprising speed. Upon seeing the mangled remains, they seemed to relax slightly. The leader inspected the corpse and remarked, "It appears a Blood Cloud Beast was responsible. Recover the remains for burial. We must report this to the island so everyone can be warned about the presence of Blood Cloud Beasts in the area."

The subordinates obeyed, secured the body, and departed. Once they were gone, Zhao Hai retracted his gaze and whispered to himself, "Just as I thought. Every disciple of the Sea Alliance carries a Life Jade. The moment they perish, the jade shatters, alerting the sect to their location. Fortunately, they aren't using tracking auras, or this would be much more difficult."

This had been Zhao Hai’s test. Despite the outward peace of Impermanence Island, he remained cautious, knowing the Sea Alliance wouldn't be careless. He assumed there were identity checks and Life Jades in place, which is why he targeted a sacrificial pawn.

His theory was proven correct when the island sent a recovery team immediately. The lead disciple had checked for a Life Jade on the body and found it broken, confirming the death. Seeing no signs of further investigation or tracking Qi, Zhao Hai felt more secure.

During the encounter, Zhao Hai had managed to plant spell bugs on the search party. These would allow him to eavesdrop on conversations and gather intelligence about the island's interior. Specifically, he hoped to learn the location of the God-Slaying Saber. If the weapon was on the island, he would find a way to infiltrate and steal it. If not, he would proceed to Blood Shadow Island, the domain of Bai Xin.

Although Yin Impermanence and Bai Xin shared leadership of the Blood Sea Alliance, Bai Xin was the true authority. Lei Gang had informed Zhao Hai that Bai Xin had brandished the God-Slaying Saber in previous conflicts with the Blood Slaughter Sect. This suggested the weapon was likely kept on Blood Shadow Island.

Nevertheless, Zhao Hai insisted on clearing Impermanence Island first. The God-Slaying Saber was the Sea Alliance's greatest asset. Since the Blood Slaughter Sect expected the saber to be with Bai Xin on Blood Shadow Island, it would be a clever ploy to hide it on Impermanence Island under Yin Impermanence’s protection. By doing the opposite of what was expected, they could keep the weapon safe from thieves. Zhao Hai needed to be certain the saber wasn't hidden here before moving on.
