Living In Another World With A Farm Chapter 8275 - 252-falling out (1)

Zhao Hai and his companions entered a strange manor, where they immediately felt a pervasive, unsettling presence. They found their escape route cut off by a black fog, leaving them no choice but to proceed deeper into the manor. Inside, they encountered sentient objects, including talking plaques and running stone slabs, before finally meeting a desiccated corpse that welcomed them, praising Zhao Hai's skill in navigating the manor without triggering its arrays.

"The pleasure is mine," Zhao Hai answered with a grin. He finished speaking and moved to take a seat. Yan Bei and Zhao Wuji, however, remained standing. They positioned themselves on either side of Zhao Hai, keeping a cautious watch on the corpse. The cadaver paid them no mind. Once Zhao Hai was settled, the creature waved its hand, causing two jade cups to materialize. He set them on the table, and they instantly filled with a milky white liquid that emitted a crisp, clean scent.

"You have traveled quite a distance, guest. Would you care for a drink?" the mummified corpse asked while looking at Zhao Hai. As he spoke, he grasped his own glass and raised it toward Zhao Hai in a toast. Zhao Hai returned the smile, lifting his cup as if he intended to swallow the contents.

"Little Hai..." Yan Bei interjected. His words were sparse, but his intent was clear. He was calling out to warn Zhao Hai against drinking the liquid. Zhao Hai simply dismissed the concern with a wave of his hand and downed the milky fluid in a single gulp. Setting the jade cup back down, he beamed, "High-grade stalactite milk. This is truly a treasure. It is quite rare to find, exceptionally rare."

the mummified corpse let out a laugh. "Hahaha, how unusual. I am surprised you actually had the courage to drink the stalactite milk from that cup. Look at your two companions behind you. Aren't they terrified? They would never dare touch it. Even if stalactite milk is a precious resource, their fear would stop them."

"That is true; naturally, they would be afraid. While stalactite milk is a top-tier item, it becomes a lethal toxin if it contains corpse poison. Even if they had the urge to try it, I wouldn't permit them to," Zhao Hai remarked with a smile.

The mummified corpse was momentarily stunned by Zhao Hai's admission. Suddenly, a red light flickered within its eyes. Staring at Zhao Hai, it asked, "You knew? You were aware and yet you still drank it? Now I am even more intrigued. Explain to me, why did you dare to consume it?" The corpse showed no signs of agitation, merely observing Zhao Hai with a strange calmness.

Zhao Hai looked back at the withered body and smiled. "Because such a small amount of poison is entirely ineffective against me, and more importantly, I required time. Being here is the same as stepping into your domain. If I didn't give myself a moment to set things up, defeating you would be impossible. That is why I sat here drinking stalactite milk with you, but my preparations are just about finished."

Again, the mummified corpse was taken aback. It spoke coldly to Zhao Hai, "So you were aware all along. A clever tactic. However, it seems your preparations aren't very effective. If they were, you would have attacked me long ago instead of waiting until this moment, wouldn't you?" Though the corpse's voice remained soft, Yan Bei and the others felt a piercing chill within its tone.

Zhao Hai smiled at him and said, "That isn't necessarily true. You likely know my purpose for coming. This location serves as one of the array's eyes, and you are the one in control. If I neutralize you, every restriction in this region will fail. But judging by your behavior, it seems you prefer to capture us through other means rather than a direct fight. I am curious—why is that?"

The mummified corpse chuckled. "It is quite simple. I want to take you alive because I desire your bodies. In my current state, I am tethered to this place. Even if I managed to leave, anyone who encountered me would immediately try to kill me. Since I cannot depart as I am, I need your physical forms. I didn't anticipate you being so perceptive, though. You have truly surprised me."

"I have always been quite sharp," Zhao Hai replied with a grin, "but your scheme has fallen through. I have already made my move. What do you intend to do now? Do you still believe you can capture me? I suspect that will be impossible." Zhao Hai remained composed as he watched the corpse. In contrast, Yan Bei and Zhao Wuji grew incredibly tense. They hadn't realized that a hidden battle of wits had been occurring between Zhao Hai and the corpse. Only now did the gravity of the danger sink in.

"Hahahaha, do not try to deceive me. I control everything within this space. What could you have possibly arranged? I would know the instant you made a move. You are merely bluffing, though I do admire your spirit. You aren't wasting any time. I am genuinely curious about your goal. Are you perhaps waiting for reinforcements to rescue you?" The mummified corpse laughed while staring at Zhao Hai.

Zhao Hai shook his head. "I certainly won't be waiting for others to save us. Even though this is the eye of the formation, trapping me is no easy task. To attack me, you would need to draw upon the power of the entire array. My arrangement involves isolating this manor from the rest of the world. Now, you and this estate must face me alone. Dealing with me using only the strength of the three of us is a bit risky, but it isn't a hopeless situation, is it?"

Just as Zhao Hai finished his sentence, the mummified corpse sensed numerous red lights erupting outside the manor walls. These lights formed a perimeter around the estate. Simultaneously, the corpse realized that the amount of power he could command had plummeted. He was now restricted to the power contained solely within the manor itself.

Standing up, Zhao Hai scanned the grounds and said solemnly, "This manor is quite impressive, but it has always been under someone else's thumb. It would be a fine choice if I were to take control of it, don't you agree?" By this time, Yan Bei and Zhao Wuji were combat-ready. Both looked at the mummified corpse with a sense of excitement. They could feel the pressure on them lifting as the red barrier rose.

Although they lacked Zhao Hai's high level of sensitivity, they were still cultivators with sharpened instincts. From the moment they entered this region, they had felt an oppressive weight. That pressure had peaked upon arriving at the manor, which was why they had been hesitant to enter. They hadn't expected Zhao Hai to have a plan in motion the whole time. Now that they felt the burden easing, they knew it wasn't a trick of the mind.

They understood the significance of this change. Generally, greater pressure indicated a more powerful foe, while a decrease suggested the enemy had been weakened. As cultivators, they trusted this sensation implicitly, which fueled their newfound confidence.

The mummified corpse stood up as well, his red eyes glaring at Zhao Hai. He hissed, "Do you truly believe you can defeat me? I am telling you, your life ends here. Using the power inherent to this manor, I can easily dispose of you. Children, destroy them!"

At the corpse's command, the manor surged with malevolent life. The vegetation reacted first, emitting wild shrieks. Massive tree roots erupted from the earth to strike at Zhao Hai's group. The three of them leaped into the air to avoid the assault. Zhao Hai then performed a hand seal and bellowed, "Lin!" At his cry, a sphere of red light slammed into the ground. The trees and plants froze instantly before retreating back into the dirt, their wails sounding as if they were in agonizing pain.

The onslaught continued. Bricks began to tear themselves away from the surrounding walls, glowing with a sickly green light as they grew in size. They rained down toward the trio. Even the roof tiles transformed, turning into sharp flying knives that streaked toward them.

The stone slabs they had walked upon earlier shrieked and took flight, reshaping themselves into long swords that lunged at Zhao Hai. Even the stone furniture in the courtyard rose up, becoming massive boulders aimed at crushing the intruders.

Seeing the chaos, Yan Bei and Zhao Wuji's expressions shifted. They both shouted, and a massive skeletal phantom manifested around Yan Bei's body. The phantom swung its heavy arms, swiping away the incoming bricks and tiles.

Meanwhile, Zhao Wuji’s frame expanded until he was a five-meter-tall giant. He used his massive hands to swat aside the stone swords. Zhao Hai remained perfectly still and calm, his hands holding a seal as he watched the mummified corpse retreat into the distance. At that moment, the broken pieces of the entrance sign and the two main gates flew into the air. The gates became two colossal blades swinging at Zhao Hai. The characters for "Yin" and "Yang" on the sign transformed back into two elderly spirits. They roared and thrust their palms forward, launching beams of black and white light at him.

"Forward!" Zhao Hai cried out, shifting his hand seal. A wave of red light radiated from his body. Every brick, tile, and stone that touched this light let out a scream of torment.

The black and white beams from the sign shattered upon contact with the red aura, vanishing instantly. The mummified corpse looked on in shock. He grabbed the mirror hanging from his chest, and the Yin-Yang fish symbols on its surface began to glow. Two solid beams of black and white light shot out like swords toward Zhao Hai. The corpse then opened its mouth, exhaling a thick cloud of black Qi that quickly enveloped the manor. Ghostly howls echoed from within the mist as the black Qi formed into countless serpents, all lunging toward the three men.
