Immortality Through Array Formations Chapter 1968 - 952: Opening the Coffin (Part 3)

Previously on Immortality Through Array Formations...
As Mr. Hui and his team prepare the specialized techniques required to open the dangerous tomb coffin, Mo Hua carefully memorizes their methods while maintaining his facade of innocence. Seizing a strategic moment, Mo Hua subtly manipulates Mr. Hui by claiming that Rat has already stolen the mysterious artifact and is attempting to frame him. This calculated deception successfully plants seeds of deep suspicion and greed within Mr. Hui, turning the tomb raiders against one another just as the perilous task of opening the coffin begins.

A faint smirk played on Mo Hua’s lips as he observed the bluish-gray malice beginning to sprout above Mr. Hui’s head.

...

The group then commenced preparations for the unsealing of the coffin.

Everything was in place thirty minutes later.

They stood within the deep pit, positioned before the radiant yellow bronze coffin.

Seeking to bolster his resolve and drive away the surrounding evil Qi, Mr. Hui took a gulp of vivid red chicken blood wine before commanding in a low tone, "Open the coffin."

The Yin energy in the air intensified the moment those words were uttered.

Activating the Formation and establishing the Mo Line, Mr. Hui applied Spiritual Rice Water to his brow to trigger the Yellow Jade Blood Pattern Talisman etched upon the bronze vessel.

A misty, translucent barrier of light shimmered into existence, shielding the group and the bronze coffin within its confines.

One after another, symbols resembling Taoist Runes began to glow upon the surface of the barrier.

These characters—neither purely runes nor standard formations—appeared to be ancient aphorisms, vibrating with a mysterious power designed to suppress the contents of the bronze coffin.

"Pull the nails!" Mr. Hui ordered once more.

Stone, accompanied by an elderly black-robed cultivator and two other men in black robes, immediately leaped onto the coffin. Occupying the four corners, they used jade tools to bypass the lock and poured royal water over the seals. Then, utilizing their Golden Core Power, they forcibly extracted the four coffin nails from the corners of the bronze structure.

The bright yellow bronze coffin sat unsealed now that the nails were removed.

Death energy and Yin energy began to leak from the seams of the lid.

An uneasy sensation washed over everyone; even from his distant vantage point, Mo Hua felt a sudden chill that sent goosebumps racing across his skin.

Though his palms were slick with cold sweat, Mr. Hui maintained his focus and declared solemnly,

"Open!"

Without further hesitation, the four cultivators worked together to slowly heave the bronze lid open.

A pungent odor of rot immediately billowed out, accompanied by Yin energy that spread like frost, transforming the deep pit into a frigid ice chamber as if midwinter had suddenly arrived.

Suppressing his heart's palpitations, Mr. Hui peered into the coffin, only for his pupils to shrink in shock, leaving him utterly speechless.

The rest of the party looked inside and fell into a stunned silence as well.

Mo Hua, sensing the freezing Yin energy followed by that haunting silence, felt his curiosity pique and leaned forward to catch a glimpse.

He found it impossible to see clearly from his current position.

Climbing onto the roof of a nearby corridor, he looked down into the coffin's depths. Upon seeing the contents, Mo Hua’s expression twisted in a wave of nausea.

Within that elegant and dignified bronze coffin lay a mountain of corpses.

Filthy, rotting, and consisting of severed limbs piled like heaps of discarded mud, these remains were stuffed inside the opulent, yellow bronze interior.

It was a gruesome and horrifying sight.

The entire group was left momentarily paralyzed by the scene.

Mr. Hui’s face darkened with fury as he turned toward the black-robed cultivators, his voice icy as he demanded,

"Is this the Great Wilderness royal tomb you spoke of?"

Instead of the promised treasures, the tomb held nothing but a repulsive pile of deformed, decaying remains.

The black-robed cultivators remained eerily calm, offering no response.

The tension in the air grew increasingly thick and strange.

Suddenly, Mo Hua’s eyes widened.

Amidst the swirling death energy and Yin energy of the corpses, he detected a faint, unmistakable trace of the Taoist Demon’s aura.

"Be careful!" Mo Hua screamed.

Before his warning could even register, the yellow bronze coffin began to shake violently.

The putrid flesh and mangled limbs started to vibrate and crawl, twisting together toward the center of the pile. The meat wove itself into a singular, massive "flesh and blood statue."

A monstrous roar erupted, and a wave of distorted, terrifying energy exploded in every direction.

In an instant, the color drained from everyone’s faces.
