Chapter 576 Tianchan Five Elders
"Guh... what a colossal tiger demon..."
Staring at the feline beast that seemed large enough to blot out the moon, Old Ghost Fu found himself stumbling over his words.
In contrast, a faint smirk played on Shi Xuan’s lips. "Now that this secret treasury has been unsealed, it seems every manner of demon and monster is being drawn out."
As they spoke, the mountain-sized tiger demon began its descent from the heavens.
The beast was staggering in scale, stretching several tens of zhang in length and standing over ten zhang tall. Among the gathered crowd, those with keen eyes immediately recognized the five formidable Nirvana Realm cultivators and cried out in shock.
"They... they are the Tianchan Five Elders!"
"I never imagined that the Nine Stars Alignment and the unsealing of this secret treasury would provoke these five. They usually avoid the disputes of the world."
"The Tianchan Five Elders?" Shi Xuan murmured.
Old Ghost Fu leaned in and whispered urgently, "My Lord, the Tianchan Five Elders are unaffiliated with any Sect. Rumor has it they are manifestations of a pine tree, a toad, a bone, a tiger, and a soul from within Tianchan Mountain."
"There are many legends regarding their origins. Some claim they were born from the residual blessings of a Great Emperor’s ascension."
"Others suggest they stumbled upon a miraculous fortune. Regardless of the truth, all Five Elders share some connection to an Immortal Emperor."
"I see."
As Shi Xuan spoke, a spark of anticipation flickered in his eyes. Since departing from the Land of Slaughter, he had not yet tested his steel against a true Nirvana Realm master. He was curious to see the extent of the Five Elders' power.
"It is a surprise to find that there are still those in this realm who recognize our Tianchan Five Elders."
Stroking his beard with a composed air, the old Daoist spoke slowly, "Since our identities are known to you, why have you not retreated? This secret treasury of Tianchan Mountain is not a prize for the likes of you to covet."
The declaration caused a ripple of conflicting emotions through the crowd. Some faces were pale with dread, while others twisted with resentment or silent protest.
Old Ghost Fu lowered his voice, asking, "My Lord, what is our move?"
Shi Xuan chuckled softly. "We enter the secret treasury, of course. Whatever others choose to do is of no concern to us. We were the ones who opened this place; it would be foolish to stand before a mountain of treasure and walk away with nothing."
Though his voice was calm, his words acted as a rallying cry for the onlookers. Many felt a surge of relief, convinced they had backed the right side.
An expert who showed no fear toward the Tianchan Five Elders had to be a Nirvana Realm powerhouse at the very least—perhaps even a King.
"Let’s move."
Noting that no one dared to object, Shi Xuan led Liang Yi toward the shimmering portal of light.
Their bold movement immediately drew the sharp, startled gazes of the five experts above. Elder Tiger glared down at them, his voice booming, "Did you perhaps fail to hear the warning of Elder Daoist Pine?"
Shi Xuan replied indifferently, "So what if we heard it? This secret treasury was opened through our efforts. Do you truly believe you can block our path?"
Hiss...
The surrounding cultivators gasped, silently admiring the audacity of the man in the bronze mask. They had encountered many who were reckless, but this was the first time they had seen someone so eager to court death.
"Young man, are you truly ignorant of the reputation of the Tianchan Five Elders?" Elder Tiger asked, his eyes shining with a brilliance that rivaled the stars as he locked onto Shi Xuan.
"Reputation?"
Shi Xuan gave a mocking laugh. "Hehe, if you consider that a reputation, then wouldn't this Young Master have been renowned across the four seas long ago?"
Arrogant!
He was incredibly prideful. Many wondered if this masked figure was also a hidden Nirvana Realm expert.
"Just who are you?" the scholar standing beside Elder Tiger asked instinctively.
"I fear that revealing my name might frighten you to death. However, within the Land of Slaughter, the world knows me as the Sword of Broken Slaughter!"
As Shi Xuan declared this, a tidal wave of killing intent erupted from his body, piercing the sky. At that precise moment, a passing cloud was stained a deep, visceral crimson by the sheer intensity of his blood energy, visible to all under the light of the keys.
What a terrifying killing intent!
Who exactly is this Sword of Broken Slaughter?
As the crowd tried to place the name, another series of shouts broke out from the masses.
"I remember! He is the rising genius of the Wendao Academy, the Sword of Broken Slaughter. It is said he spent ten years in the Land of Slaughter, treating every day like a single moment of Cultivation. Though he is bathed in killing intent, his sword remains pure and invincible. His true depth is unknown, but no demon has ever survived an encounter with his blade."
The title "Prodigy of the Wendao Academy" was enough to silence the crowd. The fame of the academy’s Twin Saint Sons was legendary, serving as the benchmark for all geniuses within the institution.
Ever since their rise, any student from the Wendao Academy labeled a "prodigy" was known to be a monster capable of slaying opponents in higher realms of Cultivation.
The expressions of the Tianchan Five Elders grew rigid. They hadn't expected to run into a genius from such a powerhouse as the Wendao Academy. Though they were in the Nirvana Realm, they lacked the title of Kings. Against a titan like the Wendao Academy, they wouldn't even have the chance to run.
Seeing their hesitation, Shi Xuan smiled thinly. "May I proceed now?"
"Amitabha," the old monk spoke first. "Since this secret treasury was unsealed by the Young Lord, this humble monk would not dream of obstructing you. Please, proceed."
"At least you have some sense." Shi Xuan took a step forward.
"Wait."
Elder Tiger barked, halting their progress once more.
Shi Xuan turned his head slowly. "Do you still have something to say?"
"You claim to be a prodigy of the Wendao Academy, but is that the truth?" Elder Tiger’s eyes were fixed on Shi Xuan. If they allowed him through on a whim, others might claim false titles from Holy Lands, and they would lose all control of the situation.
"Oh?" Shi Xuan asked with amusement. "Then what is it you require?"
"Prove it to us," Elder Tiger demanded.
"Are you certain?" Shi Xuan’s tone remained flat, a stark contrast to the murderous aura he had displayed moments ago.
"Indeed," Madame Hua added. "It is not that we doubt you, Young Lord. But with so many witnesses, we must have proof to maintain order, wouldn't you agree?"
Shi Xuan’s gaze swept over the group. "Which of you wishes to discover if the blade in my hand is sharp enough?"
The Five Elders exchanged glances before the other four collectively looked toward Elder Tiger.
"Hmph!" Elder Tiger snorted with disdain. "A pack of cowards terrified of death. Fine, let this King witness your sword skills. Draw your weapon."
Every eye was on Shi Xuan as he calmly stepped out from the crowd. He ascended into the air, slowly pulling his long sword from its scabbard. "As you wish," he said softly.
As the words left his mouth, his sword cleared the sheath in a flash, executing a casual thrust toward Elder Tiger.
Clang!
The air rang with the cry of the blade as a massive sword qi tore through the sky. Under the moonlight, the spectators saw a blood-red sword Dharma Aspect manifesting around the qi.
Sword Intent taking physical form—the Great Completion of Sword Intent!
Before the crowd could even process the sight, Shi Xuan was already sliding his sword back into its sheath. "Who is next?" he asked quietly.
Before his voice could echo, the massive tiger in the sky was decapitated, its head and body falling separately toward the earth below...
