Chapter 571: A Decade of Growth
"Ding!"
"The host’s disciple, Shi Xuan, has achieved a breakthrough to the Path Union Realm. He has mastered the Great Perfection of the True Meaning of Fate. The host is rewarded with 80 years of Cultivation and +8 Great Dao Truth."
Inside the Wendao Academy, a faint grin touched Chu Feng’s face as the system’s notification rang out.
Shi Xuan had advanced once more. Currently, nearly all of his disciples had stepped into the Path Union Realm, with the exception of the two playful girls, Chen Qianqian and Bai Qian, who remained at the eighth level of the Soul Nurturing Realm.
The rankings were impressive: Qin Qin had reached the eighth level of Path Union, Wang Baole and Ye Beixuan were both at the fifth level, Xu Caichen held the fourth level, Han Ping was at the second, and Chu Caiyi had recently entered the first level of the Path Union Realm.
Over the last ten years, constant reports of progress emerged from Miaomiao Mountain. In addition to Xiao Chen, disciples like Cao Youqian, Nie Xiuyuan, Qin Qin, Wang Baole, and Ye Beixuan had each grasped a point of Great Dao Truth.
The four Great Sages—Jiao Yang, Yi Shan, Jin Chi, and Ben Lei—refused to be left behind, each successfully comprehending a point of Great Dao Truth as well.
Furthermore, Chu Feng’s two Dao companions, Bing Yan and Princess Miao Yu, had not only gained their own points of Great Dao Truth but had also blessed him with two daughters, bringing him immense joy.
The day his first daughter arrived, Chu Feng’s exuberant shouts echoed across every corner of Miaomiao Mountain.
"I’m a father! I’m a father!"
He named the two young girls Chu Yuzhi and Chu Yingjin.
The eldest, Chu Yuzhi, was born to Bing Yan, while the younger, Chu Yingjin, was the daughter of Princess Miao Yu.
Though they were born only three days apart, they were now six years old.
Chu Feng’s own Cultivation had ascended to the Half-Step Saint Realm. He had accumulated 959 points of Great Dao Truth, leaving him only forty points shy of the 999 mark.
Despite this, he felt no rush to reach the Saint Realm immediately, preferring to let his days flow naturally.
On this particular day, he followed his routine and went to the Bodhi Tree to lecture the small tree, which now stood over eight feet tall.
The Bodhi Tree had developed a significant spiritual intelligence, allowing it to converse with Chu Feng through divine sense. During his downtime, he often enjoyed chatting with it.
As he finished his sermon and prepared to stand, a melodic voice called out from a distance.
"Father."
Turning around, he saw a precious little girl with her hair tied in buns, wearing a pink dress as she skipped toward him.
Recognizing her, Chu Feng moved quickly to scoop the child into his arms.
"Yuzhi, why are you out here searching for Father all by yourself?"
Smack.
Chu Yuzhi planted a kiss on his cheek and spoke sweetly, "Yuzhi misses Father."
Chu Feng playfully rubbed his nose against his eldest daughter’s nose. "In that case, Father will take Yuzhi fishing."
"Yay!"
At an age where play was everything, Chu Yuzhi was filled with curiosity about the world.
Chu Feng didn't pressure her to begin Cultivation yet, focusing instead on nurturing her interests. Bing Yan didn't mind this approach; after all, no one in the Wendao Academy—or the entire Xuan Continent—understood Cultivation better than her husband.
As the two walked along, they encountered another little girl with pigtails wearing a peacock-patterned dress, running their way.
Upon seeing Chu Feng, she stretched out her arms and said softly, "Father, Yingjin wants a hug too."
"Of course."
The sound of his younger daughter’s voice made Chu Feng’s heart melt as he reached down to pick her up.
Chu Yingjin clung to his neck and gave her sister a bright smile. "Sister, I found you."
"Hmph."
Chu Yuzhi gave a playful, proud hum. In her excitement to see her father, she had completely forgotten they were in the middle of a game of hide-and-seek.
Chu Feng simply smiled at their antics and continued on.
Soon, the father and his daughters reached the waterfall to begin fishing.
The two girls were too restless to sit still. After the fishing rods were set in the dirt, they wandered around Chu Feng, peeking at the fish in the water.
If they weren't afraid of soaking their dresses and being lectured by their mothers, they likely would have dived straight into the pool to catch the fish by hand.
As evening fell, Chu Feng carried his daughters back to the Head’s Courtyard, bringing along a successful catch.
Entering the yard, he saw his two wives busy with chores. The sight filled him with a sense of domestic peace, calming his spirit.
"Mother."
The girls called out as soon as they spotted them.
Bing Yan and Princess Miao Yu walked over, each taking their respective daughter from Chu Feng.
Bing Yan asked, "Where did you and Father go to play today?"
"We went fishing," Chu Yuzhi answered immediately.
"Did you get into the water?" Princess Miao Yu asked while inspecting her daughter.
"No, we didn’t. We were very well-behaved," Chu Yingjin replied honestly, clearly a bit intimidated by her mother.
Mwah!
Princess Miao Yu kissed her cheek. "My sweet girls are the best. We’ve prepared something delicious for dinner tonight."
"Yay!"
The mention of a feast sent the girls into a fit of cheers and excitement.
Ten thousand miles away.
Shi Xuan was soaring through the sky on his sword, accompanied by his student, Liang Yi.
"Master, why aren't we using the Teleportation Array to return to the academy?" Liang Yi asked with curiosity.
Shi Xuan smiled and replied, "There is no rush. We might encounter a serendipitous opportunity on the way back."
Liang Yi nodded, trusting his master implicitly. If Shi Xuan sensed an opportunity, it was bound to be true.
Three days later.
The pair spotted a conflict happening ahead. Usually, they wouldn't bother with such skirmishes, but Shi Xuan stopped in the air this time, observing the distant fight.
Liang Yi watched the battle between several Heavenly Origin practitioners with a look of confusion.
"Master, they don't look like they're from our Wendao Academy. Based on their clothes, they seem to be from the Northern Abyss Saint Dynasty. Is one of them an old friend of yours?"
Shi Xuan focused on a woman in yellow robes who was being cornered by several late-stage Heavenly Origin cultivators. He nodded slightly but didn't move to help yet.
Even though the woman was only at the early-stage of the Heavenly Origin Realm, she was holding her ground against her stronger opponents.
Her allies were not as capable, however, and were being forced into a retreat.
The yellow-robed woman grew distracted by her companions' plight, and a momentary lapse allowed her to be wounded.
After pushing the attackers back with a heavy sword swing, she yelled, "We are disciples of the Northern Abyss Saint Dao Academy! If we fall here, none of you eighteen will live to see tomorrow!"
A man nearby, wearing a black cloak and a mask made of white bone, laughed coldly. "If this were the Northern Abyss Saint Dynasty's soil, we, the Black Demon Eighteen Thieves, might actually fear the Saint Dao Academy."
"But we aren't there. I will give you one final chance: surrender your treasures, or choose the path to the grave!"
The woman in yellow didn't hesitate to snap back, "If you want them, you’ll have to take them from my cold, dead hands!"
