I Have A Cultivation World Chapter 4 - 4 Return to City_1

Previously on I Have A Cultivation World...
A student of cultivation, Chen Mobai, was transported to an underwater cave dwelling after touching a turtle shell that had previously injured him. He explored the small dwelling, identifying a Water Avoidance Array and testing various doors with coins, discovering different prohibitions. Unable to break through the last ward, and realizing the dwelling was a high-grade spirit vein, he became concerned about his predicament and called for help.

“What kind of story should I give them when I call for help? That a turtle shell transported me here? That I was kidnapped? Or just that I'm lost?”

Chen Mobai anxiously contacted the Immortal Enforcement Department, only to be met with a shocking realization.

There was no signal on his phone!

The call failed to connect entirely!

Even in the deepest trenches of the Terrestrial Planet’s oceans, thousands of meters down, the coverage from the Stars of Immortality remained accessible.

Chen Mobai recalled a Rank-5 Array Master bragging on a television program that during the great world-opening war two millennia ago, even an Immortal cultivator falling into the darkest abyss could maintain a signal from the Terrestrial Planet, ensuring seamless communication for all cultivators.

Exactly where had he ended up?

Chen Mobai was completely stunned!

He pushed his knowledge to the limit trying to find an explanation, even going so far as to inspect every reachable corner of the Water Mansion, right down to the individual floor bricks.

In the end, however, Chen Mobai could do nothing but sit on the floor of the main hall in despair.

He was unable to find any way out.

Just as he was about to give up and focus on meditating and Cultivation, a sudden silver glow from his phone screen drew his gaze.

“Wait, what?”

He saw an unfamiliar app icon on his phone that he hadn't installed himself.

The icon depicted a small, dark-green turtle.

Below it, the app was titled:

[Turtle Treasure]!

What on earth was this?

Chen Mobai instinctively reached for the icon to delete it. He had a strong dislike for mysterious apps appearing on his device.

A notification appeared in red text: [Cannot Uninstall].

What was happening?

It was as if the phone had developed its own consciousness!

Furious, Chen Mobai was ready to force a reboot when a sudden realization struck him.

Could this Turtle Treasure... actually be the turtle shell?!

He quickly tapped the icon to open it.

The application launched smoothly without any errors.

The interface was basic, featuring only three buttons: [Teleportation], [Return Home], and [Agency].

Though filled with a mix of shock and excitement, Chen Mobai remained cautious. He restarted the Turtle Treasure app to check for instructions, and finding none, he tentatively pressed [Return Home].

[This action requires an 8-second channeling period. Do not allow any interruptions. Please ensure you are in a quiet location.].

This message flashed onto the screen the moment he hit the button.

Before Chen Mobai could even wonder what might constitute an interruption, a burst of silver light surrounded him. The light twisted into a spiral, ripping through the void and whisking him away from the Water Mansion.

“Am I really back?”

As the silver radiance dissolved, Chen Mobai realized he was back in his bedroom, his hand still touching the turtle shell.

With a sharp ‘whoosh’.

He jerked his hand away and scrambled back onto his bed, grabbing a sword from the wall that his father had gifted him from the Cave Heaven Scenic Area years ago.

The blade was shiny but was merely a children’s model, only thirty centimeters long—a literal toy.

The room remained silent for two long minutes.

Chen Mobai stared intently at the turtle shell. While he was debating how to deal with the object, the sound of the front door opening echoed from downstairs.

His mother had returned.

He knew it was her immediately from the familiar rhythm of the door.

Because he had left a “Cultivating” sign on his door, she didn't come up to bother him, though he could still hear her talking to herself.

“That boy... I told him he should use the breathing exercises in the cultivation room near the spirit vein, yet he still insists on staying cooped up in his bedroom...”

Chen Mobai paused for a moment but decided to stay upstairs.

He quietly put away his Child Model Demon Subduing Sword and, using a lightness technique, crept back to give the turtle shell a closer look.

...

The following morning.

Exhausted, Chen Mobai dragged himself downstairs, finished the breakfast his mother had prepared despite her constant chatting, and caught the bus with his bag in tow.

Once morning study concluded, an old man in simple clothes entered the room right on time.

“Good morning, Mr. Ding!”

The students stood to greet him. Old man Ding nodded calmly and spoke.

“Today, we will continue our work on reinforcing defensive forms within spellcraft...”

The Immortal Curriculum categorizes the necessary knowledge for a cultivator into four primary fields.

These are [Technique, Pill, Instrument, Array]!

These four subjects are further divided into dozens of specific branches, requiring seniors to pick a primary focus that will define their academic future.

This choice is the equivalent of picking between arts and sciences in the old high schools of the Terrestrial Planet before the rise of the Immortal Civilization.

The main difference now is that there are four paths for Immortal Cultivation.

To gain entry into the elite Daoist Academies, one needs more than just high basic scores and a high cultivation realm; the academy’s specific entrance exam is the most vital factor.

Chen Mobai and his peers had all chosen [Techniques Law] as their major.

He wasn't sure why others picked it, but for Chen Mobai, Techniques Law was the most affordable option.

Courses like Pill, Instrument, or Array require significant resources and Good Deed Points to practice and improve.

Techniques Law, however, is much more direct.

It requires only one thing: Practice!

Furthermore, studying Techniques Law paves the way for becoming a Talisman Master. In the long run, it is among the most lucrative professions within the Hundred Arts of Cultivation Immortal.

Becoming a talisman master had always been Chen Mobai’s goal.

He had the perfect background for it; his mother was employed at a factory that produced talisman paper. Growing up in that environment gave him insights that would save him time in his studies, allowing him to focus more on his cultivation.

The instructor, Ding Jinglue, was a well-known cultivator within Red Sandstone City.

In his youth, he had decent potential, possessing a three-attribute True Spirit Root—slightly superior to Chen Mobai’s own.

His entrance exam scores were average, only getting him into the local Cinnabarite Institute. However, his grit allowed him to study hard for twenty years until he finally passed the Immortal ascension exam for the top ten academies.

Unfortunately, his progress was too slow.

Even though he made it into the Pure Yang Academy and reached the peak of Qi cultivation before the age of sixty, and even gained access to a secret Foundation Establishment method, he still failed to break through.

After his first failed attempt at the Pure Yang Academy, Ding Jinglue spent another twenty years working his way back to the peak of Qi cultivation to try again, driven by sheer willpower.

Regrettably, luck was not on his side, and he failed a second time.

With his potential spent after two tries, Ding Jinglue returned to Red Sandstone City to take up teaching.

Before his attempts at Foundation Establishment, he was consumed by his cultivation. Once he returned home, he finally had the time to explore the Hundred Arts of Cultivation Immortal.

He became highly skilled in the Path of Spellcraft since it cost nothing to practice. However, his teaching style was quite dull, often leaving his students bored or sleepy.

Usually, Chen Mobai wouldn’t pay much attention either, but today was different.
