I Am Unaware That I Am the Peerless Martial God Chapter 1331: Promise
Previously on I Am Unaware That I Am the Peerless Martial God...
A few days passed in a blur.
Since the Old Clan Head's unexpected trip to the schoolhouse, the kids had thrown themselves into their studies with fresh vigor. Each pupil overflowed with passion and drive. Even the moms and dads who swung by now and then to fetch or bring their little ones sported faces full of pure joy.
Thanks to this vibrant study vibe, Yi Feng relished the calm and serenity. It spared him from giving endless heartfelt talks, turning his routine smoother by the day and his existence even more laid-back.
Dusk had fallen once more, signaling the end of classes. Yi Feng waved goodbye to his pupils with a warm, kind grin, sensing a tiny spark of pride.
For starters, he was settling in nicely here, shaping young hearts through teaching. It wasn't pointless work, and it beat that crazy idea of courting death hands down in terms of steadiness.
He'd completely figured out those pesky issues.
Simple joys in downtime suited him just fine.
Back in his yard, Yi Feng spotted the kitchen stacked with eats and beverages, plus several fresh outfits waiting in his chamber. All these goodies came from the locals' thanks, delivered via Maiden Wei. No frets over meals or garb—he could've stocked a store. What a delightful overload it was.
One had to admit, these folks in the village were just too genuine and warm-hearted.
He only handled basics like letters and words, far from anything grand, but their thanks poured in like a flood. Maiden Wei showed up daily with deliveries; her eagerness was starting to overwhelm him a tad.Without all the friendly hellos from the crowd, Yi Feng could almost imagine this young lady crushing on him and hiding behind folks' requests to shower him with presents.
Strolling through the yard, Yi Feng basked in total ease. He'd gotten used to this easygoing routine. Still, holing up in the schoolhouse round the clock forever wasn't sustainable.
First off, beyond lessons and wrangling the rowdy kids, boredom set in quick. Secondly, chowing down on everyone else's wild catches and farm goods daily was packing on the pounds.
In his idle moment, Yi Feng glanced up at the lush peak rising behind his home.
The woods teemed with life, birds singing and soaring freely.
Bathed in the glow of the dying sun, the vista resembled a vivid, mood-filled artwork. It stirred his curiosity, pulling at his spirit.
"Haven't hunted in ages. How about a mountain wander? The prey I snag myself might hit the spot even more..."
Mumbling this, Yi Feng felt a rush of energy.
In this quaint settlement, families clustered together, so safety was no concern; folks left doors open at night and ignored stray finds on paths without a second thought.
He strode right out the front entrance, veering right toward the emerald slope past the school.
To his surprise, before clearing the mud wall by the school, he bumped straight into Wei Xiaowei.
She donned a fresh long dress in soft cyan, crisp and graceful. Her flowing locks looked neatly brushed. With barely any makeup, she appeared far more refined and charming than before.
Noting her brighter circumstances, Yi Feng grinned and chatted lightly.
"Maiden Wei, did you snag another monster beast?"
Wei Xiaowei dipped her head in respect, cheeks tinting pink.
"Greetings, Teacher Yi."
"Yesterday we did indeed catch a monster beast and exchanged it for quite a bit of silver. The share we received is enough for several months of expenses. We heard that you intend to practice martial arts with the Old Clan Head, and since we still had some beast meat, everyone insisted on giving it to you."
While talking, the girl extended a lotus leaf bundle with both hands, eyes averted shyly.
Faced with such generosity, Yi Feng nodded in thanks.
He understood their hardships well, so he promptly refused, voice firming up.
"Maiden Wei, there is no need for you all to be so polite."
"These past few days, everyone has sent plenty of food and clothing; I can't use it all by myself. This beast meat is truly a bit too valuable. I absolutely cannot accept it. I appreciate the kindness, but this cannot continue."
Catching his firm tone, Wei Xiaowei nibbled her lip briefly before sadly pulling back.
Withdrawing the wrapped leaf helplessly, she voiced her worry next.
"Teacher."
"It's about to get dark. Why are you out here alone? Are you going to the street to buy some food? If you don't mind, why not come to my house for dinner?"
Met with this close offer, Yi Feng shared his plans honestly.
"Thank you for your kindness, Maiden Wei, but I'm not looking for food."
"I just saw how beautiful the mountain scenery is, and since I have nothing to do, I wanted to go up for a stroll and watch the sunset."
But right after he spoke, Wei Xiaowei’s face shifted in shock!
"Ah?!"
"Teacher, you absolutely must not go up the mountain rashly!"
"The scenery may look nice, but there are many monster beasts inside. If the Old Clan Head hadn't set up a formation at the foot of the mountain, the beasts would have swarmed into the town long ago!"
"Going up alone is far too risky. You might even face life-threatening danger!"
Yi Feng was all too familiar with warnings of "life-threatening danger".
Back then, unsure of his power, he might've hoped for a breakthrough to fulfill that wild death quest and jumped at the chance.
Yet these days, Yi Feng stayed utterly composed inside.
Disillusionments had piled up too high.
So high his spirit had chilled over.
He replied with a grin, voice steady as ever.
"It's fine. I'll just walk around randomly; I won't go deep. Don't worry."
Wei Xiaowei heard him out, her slim brows knitting; anxiety lingered clearly.
After eyeing him closely for seconds, she urged once more.
"Teacher Yi, you absolutely cannot go up Qingmang Mountain alone!"
"If you really want to climb the mountain to admire the scenery, why not go with us tomorrow? It just so happens that I will be accompanying the hunting squad up the mountain."
"Since we’ve had a good harvest recently, we won't be going deep inside, only patrolling the periphery. There won't be any danger, which makes it suitable for you to join us, Teacher."
"So, if it works for you, Teacher, I will wait for you at the foot of the mountain tomorrow."
"Otherwise, I absolutely cannot let you go up."
The girl grew firmer with each word, face set in determination; she wouldn't budge.
Touched by her care, Yi Feng let out a soft chuckle and yielded.
"Alright."
"Tomorrow at dusk, I'll be there."
At this, Wei Xiaowei beamed at last. Nodding in agreement, she recalled something joyful, erasing any trace of her earlier letdown over the refused gift.
Her graceful form dashed off, hand waving in the sunset light, smile blooming like a blossom.
"Teacher Yi!"
"You must remember! Tomorrow at dusk, don't be late!"
