Chapter 422 – The Prince
One moment, Orien was subtly explaining their upcoming task to the shadow’s siblings; the very next, he found himself under their vicious assault. This sudden strike was merely the beginning, as two additional powerful presences descended from above, intent on crushing him into the earth.
Simultaneously, he felt his spiritual link to his Progenitor abruptly snapped.
Internal alarms blared within Orien’s mind. Utilizing his monumental strength and terrifying speed, he shattered the boundaries of the Shadow Realm and forced his way out of that world.
The mournful cry of The Will resonated through the vast, silvery-white void where Orien now stood. His golden eyebrows furrowed in a deep scowl, irritation flickering in his gaze. "Where is this place?" he spat, sensing the unnatural distortion of the surrounding space.
This dimension held nothing but the threads of Fate, Destiny, and Causality. Aside from those primal forces, it was entirely devoid of the standard natural laws that governed the physical universe.
’Where have I been brought?’ Orien questioned internally once more.
Abruptly, he whipped his head to the side. In the distance, he observed a world enveloped by various phenomena, rotating with deceptive peace. Orien took a single step toward Laeh before stopping short. He regained his composure and surveyed the figures surrounding him in a broad perimeter.
Ebony, Sylphira, Noctis, Ester, Shadow... and Klaus himself were all present. At this revelation, Orien’s lips curled into a thin, mocking smile. He locked his luminous green eyes onto Klaus, dismissing the others as if they were beneath his notice.
"What does this signify, Klaus?" he inquired in a soft, deceptively gentle tone.
Orien was far from ignorant; he had already deduced the nature of this betrayal. Even so, he was displaying a side of himself that Klaus had rarely seen from his former master. The Prince was offering him a final opportunity for redemption and return. Punishment would surely follow, but it would be a mercy compared to the agony reserved for those who truly betrayed The Chosen One.
In that heartbeat, Klaus yearned with his entire soul to simply follow his rightful master, to bleed and fight by his side. He truly desired that path, even if it eventually led to his demise at the hands of their foes.
That was his deepest wish. He had been brought into existence solely to serve Orien; the Progenitor had created him specifically for this purpose. He had been at Orien’s side since the Prince was an oblivious infant. The instinct to protect and obey was woven into his very being... yet he was now acting against every fiber of his nature.
His soul shrieked in torment, and tears of green blood began to leak from his eyes. Klaus bowed his head low, whispering hoarsely, "I am sorry." He pleaded for a forgiveness he knew Orien would never grant.
Orien offered no further words to him, turning his gaze toward Ester with a smirk. "Silver hair and that peculiar aura... Yes, you undoubtedly hail from that world I razed long ago. The one involving Noah, correct?" he mused, the pieces of the puzzle finally falling into place.
Ester gave a faint, cold smile. "You are correct. I am Ester Vaelgrim, Elysiari of—!"
"Your identity is of no consequence to me, woman," Orien interrupted, his smile remaining fixed even as the atmospheric pressure surged with a terrifying intensity. The group immediately shifted into battle stances.
Orien’s grin only grew wider. "You truly must underestimate me if you believe you are safe alone with me," he whispered, his green eyes flashing with a more malevolent light. "The sheer naivety of some creatures is almost endearing."
He rolled his neck, and a cataclysmic green aura erupted from his frame, instantly saturating the entire void. The whole of Buntu shuddered. In the distance, Laeh began to tremble in fear as the power of the Chosen One rippled outward.
Ester’s brow furrowed, her instincts screaming of a fatal threat. She wasn't the only one; every person present felt the same dread.
"I am Orien, you pathetic fools." His eyes began to radiate a blinding light. "To even stand a chance of touching me, you would need to bring a True Child of the Progenitor. And that..."
He suddenly crouched, spun his body, and lashed out with a thunderous kick into the empty air. The sharp crack of splintering bone echoed through the expanse, followed by a sudden spray of blood and a woman’s pained cry.
Sari was sent tumbling backward violently, her concealment shattered. When she finally skidded to a halt, she knelt in the void, clutching her ribs. A distinct footprint glowed on her side, burning with a clinging green light. Her eyes stretched wide as the flesh began to blacken, emitting the foul stench of decay. She had been poisoned.
She looked up to see Orien staring down at her as if she were dirt. His eyes were the image of the Progenitor Luelle’s—containing what looked like trillions of swirling green leaves. Klaus recoiled in shock, seemingly blindsided by this display of power.
Ester cried out in terror for her mother. Vanishing in a blur of shadow teleportation, she reappeared at Sari’s side to assist her. The momentum of the encounter had shifted instantly; a heavy shroud of death now hung over them all.
"You shall not be executed, Klaus," Orien remarked suddenly. "I can see that you are acting under duress." He looked at his guardian and smiled thinly. "Nevertheless, you will be disciplined for such frailty. But that is a matter for another time."
He watched Ester tend to Sari, while the latter glared back at him with pure, unadulterated loathing. The shadow siblings remained frozen, the sight of Orien’s Aura triggering traumatic memories of their subjugation under Luelle. They were paralyzed by ghosts of the past.
Only Shadow managed to keep his wits, yet even he understood that a direct attack on Orien right now was a suicide mission. A heavy, suffocating silence fell, broken only by Ester’s frantic, low-voiced attempts to comfort her mother.
"I'm alright," Sari said with a strained smile. "This is a minor wound."
"This is not minor! Can you trigger your healing?" Ester asked, her frame coiled like a spring, ready to intercept Orien’s next move.
The Prince seemed unhurried, surveying the area with a frigid, judgmental stare. However, with every passing second, his spiritual pressure continued to climb. "I can recover. It will simply take time because his power carries the essence of the Progenitor. It supersedes my own Law," Sari explained, already focusing her Qi to mend the damage.
She had been caught off guard, never imagining he could detect her. Now, the true nature of the monster they were fighting was clear. They had vastly miscalculated Orien’s capabilities. Being Luelle’s favorite meant he had been granted immense power on a silver platter.
Ester nodded at her mother’s explanation and stood tall. They had been shaken, but they were far from defeated. They still held untapped resources, and more importantly...
"You are in our territory now, Orien," Ester snarled, her form becoming enveloped in thick, undulating shadows. "You are standing within my husband’s realm and subject to his authority."
Her physical body dissolved into shadow, her face transforming into a void featuring only a row of jagged, white teeth. The surroundings began to plunge into darkness.
"And while you are within his domain, you shall obey his decrees."
Suddenly, the voice of Noah, saturated with absolute command and divine power, boomed throughout the silvery-white expanse:
<First Rule: The power of all intruders is reduced by half.>
The decree took effect instantly. A crushing weight slammed into Orien as his aura and Cultivation were forcibly suppressed by fifty percent. He scowled, but the judgment continued.
<Second Rule: My wives are immortal within my domain.>
Sari’s injuries vanished in a flash, healed by Noah’s absolute authority. She rose to her feet, her strength fully restored. Now, for the first time, Orien felt a genuine sense of peril. Yet, he only smiled.
"Immortal, are you?" he challenged with a grin. "Let us put that theory to the test, you worthless hags."
His insults struck a nerve in both Ester and Sari. With a deafening, world-shaking roar of fury, the mother and daughter launched their counterattack, followed closely by their allies.
