"Sister, how is it that you know him?"
Having established contact with Su Wanyi, Su Muqing felt a mixture of joy and curiosity, leading her to ask the question.
Through the Jade Pendant, Su Wanyi’s voice resonated in the ears of the two sisters: "That name sounds incredibly familiar. Over a century ago, Father mentioned a marriage arrangement to me, requesting that I return for a meeting. The individual in question was also named Haotian. He has now appeared on the Chaos Heavenly Dao list. My Master mentioned he shares some karma with you, so I wanted to verify if he is the same person."
Hearing Su Wanyi’s explanation, Su Wanxue’s expression shifted slightly as she glanced toward Su Muqing.
Meanwhile, the smile on Su Muqing’s face vanished instantly. She was suddenly reminded of the time Li Hao arrived at the Su Family bearing the Immortal Emperor’s marriage letter. Originally, their Father intended for Li Hao to pick from the four daughters of the Su Family. It was a surprise to learn that Father had even sent word to their eldest sister, who was then focused on her Cultivation within the Primordial True Realm.
It was clear just how desperately Father had wished to honor that ancient vow.
During that selection process, the youth had been resolute in choosing her.
Su Muqing bit her lip softly, her heart a chaotic swirl of emotions. By now, she realized that the young man hadn't truly chosen her, but rather the other woman residing within her soul.
If that woman hadn't existed, would he have still picked her?
She possessed no answer, or perhaps, she simply lacked the courage to confront the truth. Her only wish was to wait for the day she finally met that young man again, to ask him face-to-face and find closure once she had the answer.
"Sister, that Haotian is indeed the one we are acquainted with. He is the very person Father spoke of back then."
Noticing the conflicted look on Su Muqing’s face, Su Wanxue sighed internally and sent a reply through the Jade Pendant.
"Oh?"
Su Wanyi’s voice returned, sounding remarkably frigid, as if she were indifferently arching an eyebrow. "I just questioned the Outer Sect disciples, and it seems this Haotian has caused quite a stir since arriving in the Primordial True Realm. He comprehended 69 stars in a single day, and in a mere hundred years, he has refined 21 Chaos Laws. Could he possibly be the reincarnation of a Great Emperor?"
Su Wanxue opened her mouth to speak but could only manage a weary smile. She was well aware of the rumors and theories the world held regarding that youth, but only those who had met him knew such guesses were wide of the mark.
"He is most likely... not a reincarnated Great Emperor," Su Wanxue replied with a bitter smile.
"What makes you say that?" Su Wanyi inquired. She found it hard to believe anyone could be so peerless unless they were a Great Emperor reborn.
After all, it had taken her more than two thousand years of effort in the Primordial True Realm to refine 22 Chaos Laws.
Throughout those years, she occasionally sent an avatar back to the True Realm to visit her parents, monitor the Su Family’s affairs, and stay informed about the Northern Domain's borders. However, her true body remained dedicated to her studies in the Primordial True Realm.
Even her time spent with Su Muqing and Su Wanqing had been through an avatar.
Except for a lower combat prowess, there was virtually no difference between her avatar and her original self, and they shared a single consciousness.
Technically, her true self had never met her three younger sisters, yet this did not diminish the strength of their sisterly bond.
"The soul age of a Great Emperor would never be as brief as a single century..." Su Wanxue’s eyes grew clouded. "Calculating based on his current Cultivation in the Primordial True Realm, his soul age should only be slightly over two hundred years."
"What?"
From the other side of the Jade Token, Su Wanyi’s voice was filled with genuine shock.
A soul age of only two hundred years?
"Wanyi, that marriage was called off a long time ago."
Su Muqing spoke up suddenly in a low tone, her comment appearing to come out of nowhere.
Recovering from her surprise, Su Wanyi failed to notice the underlying meaning in Su Muqing’s words. She asked, "I was too preoccupied with my Cultivation to return. Which one of you did he end up choosing?"
Su Muqing’s fingers tightened instinctively as she remained silent.
Su Wanxue let out a sigh. "That young man didn't pick any of us; he chose to leave the Su Family."
"He didn't choose anyone?"
Su Wanyi was stunned once more. From their earlier conversation, she had assumed this unprecedented genius—whom she had never met—was already her brother-in-law. To think he had rejected them all!
The four sisters of the Su Family were famous throughout the Northern Domain; suitors wanting their hands in marriage could stretch all the way to the Demon Battlefield. Yet, that man hadn't selected a single one?
"He certainly has high standards!" Su Wanyi’s voice turned cold, sounding as though it were wrapped in frost.
Su Wanxue began to offer an explanation, but Su Wanyi interrupted. "Continue with your training. I have finished my seclusion. When you grow weary and return to the Sect, us four sisters shall reunite. On another note, why isn't Wanqing training on the same Chaos Star as you? Have you reached different levels of comprehension regarding the Chaotic Stars?"
She was curious and confused. If their youngest sister, Wanqing, had understood more Chaotic Stars than Su Muqing and the others, it would make sense for her to be on a different path. However, in terms of raw talent, Su Muqing was usually considered the best among them—even Su Wanyi felt her own aptitude was slightly lower than Muqing's.
"Well..."
Su Wanxue stole a glance at the quiet Su Muqing before replying to Su Wanyi, "It is true that Wanqing has comprehended more Chaotic Stars than either Muqing or myself."
"Is that so?"
Su Wanyi was pleasantly surprised, her voice brightening. Could it be that little Wanqing possessed a natural affinity for Chaos Power?
It wasn't impossible. Some geniuses might show incredible skill in worldly matters but struggle with Chaos Power, while others were the opposite. As the saying goes, everyone has their own unique gifts.
...
Within the Original Land, a silhouette emerged from a cave dwelling atop a mountain peak.
The figure moved with elegance; with every step taken, the sun and moon seemed to revolve in the emptiness, and ethereal lotuses bloomed beneath their feet.
