Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong Chapter 8 - 8: Bears Roaming in the Safety Zone_1

Previously on Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong...
Leo Ray takes stock of his growing fortune, securing a Tier 5 Dragon Slash Sword and a Tier 4 Angel’s Wand blueprint while reflecting on the existence of dragons and magic. Despite his progress, the next upgrade for his Lord’s Mansion is stalled by the need for rare iron and copper ores. After experimenting with the territory's crafting system to produce basic necessities and building blueprints, he initiates a mass summoning. Forty new subordinates appear before the mansion, ready to clear the surrounding forest and expand the settlement's foundation.

Looking closer, the new arrivals were just ordinary people between the ages of 20 and 40. Most were shorter than Leo Ray himself, and their physical condition appeared somewhat lacking.

Leo Ray analyzed their attributes and gathered the following data.

Out of the 40 Tier 1 subordinates, 36 were one-star farmers, one was a two-star farmer, and the final three were two-star hunters. Every one of them started with a loyalty score of 50 points.

Regarding their capabilities, about a third of the farmers possessed the "Woodcutting" passive skill, which granted a 20% boost to wood gathering efficiency.

The three hunters were equipped with the "Trapping" active skill, enabling them to set Tier 1 traps.

No skills were found among the rest of the group.

Unlike Taylor, however, they carried simple implements such as sickles and axes, while the hunters were armed with rudimentary bows and arrows.

"Villager Gavin Sullivan, representing these 39 villagers, pays respects to my Lord!"

A two-star hunter of middle age, who seemed sturdier than the others, stepped out and bowed deeply.

With him leading the way, the entire group dropped to one knee to pledge their allegiance to Leo Ray.

"Everyone, please rise."

Leo Ray appeared much more collected this time.

With a slight nod, he surveyed the crowd and commanded, "Organize yourselves into groups of ten and pick a leader for each unit.

Your first assignment is to clear the timber surrounding this log cabin.

If you find yourselves lacking tools, come to me immediately."

The 40 Tier 1 subordinates moved out the moment Leo Ray finished speaking.

The territory was soon buzzing with rhythmic labor.

Because the Mansion’s safety zone had grown considerably after reaching Level 3, the sudden arrival of so many people did not result in any crowding.

Before long, the four chosen team leaders approached Leo Ray after checking their equipment needs.

As expected, the other leaders were the more capable two-star subordinates, including Gavin Sullivan.

Leo Ray retreated to his office to begin crafting the required implements.

Shortly after, the new tools were fully distributed to the workers.

Just as Leo Ray was planning to rest, seeing that the work was proceeding smoothly, Gavin Sullivan and the two other hunters approached him again.

They looked hesitant upon arriving, trading looks as if they were debating whether to speak.

Eventually, Gavin Sullivan bowed and spoke to Leo Ray, "My Lord, the three of us are veteran hunters with years of experience.

Even though it is perilous outside the safety zone, we are certain we can hunt the local ducks and rabbits. Why have we been tasked with cutting wood?"

"Indeed, my Lord. We are capable scouts and we won't let you down!" another middle-aged hunter, slightly shorter than the rest, added quickly.

Seeing their confused faces, Leo Ray gave a faint smile and answered, "First, do not worry about rations; I have already settled that.

As for scouting, I dispatched someone to survey the area for several kilometers before you even arrived. They should be returning any moment now."

"Sev... several kilometers?!"

The three hunters looked at each other in total disbelief at Leo Ray’s claim.

Having spent their lives in the mountains, they knew this region was part of a deep, ancient forest.

Even they only dared to scout within a hundred-meter radius.

Venturing any further meant risking an encounter with Tier 1 three-star beasts or even Tier 2 demon beasts—vicious monsters that would slaughter a man in an instant!

'The scout must be either a fool or incredibly arrogant, trying to impress the Lord.

Alas, they have likely met a grim end by now...'

In the middle of Gavin Sullivan’s thoughts, the hunter beside him turned pale and began to stutter, "Bear... There is a bear!"

"Old Du, we are inside the Safety Zone. Did the light from the teleportation gate scramble your brain?"

Gavin Sullivan looked at Old Du with disdain. But as he turned his head, he saw a massive frame over two meters tall standing silently behind him.

Because the sun was behind the figure, he could only see a dark silhouette that made it hard to breathe.

"By the gods, it's a giant black bear!"

Gavin Sullivan’s survival instincts screamed that the creature before him was lethal!

Overcome by panic, Gavin let out a curse and fell back onto his rear, paralyzed with fear.

"Taylor, quit frightening them. Step aside and stop blocking the light," Leo Ray remarked with a wry smile.

"As you wish, my Lord," Taylor answered in a deep, gravelly voice, moving to stand obediently at Leo Ray’s side after finishing his scout.

"Everyone, gather around."

Once the group had assembled, Leo Ray patted Taylor’s massive back and announced, "I would like to introduce your new comrade, Taylor, a Tier 5 Berserker. Make him feel welcome."

"Tier... a Tier 5 Berserker?! He is one of us?!"

The crowd stood frozen in absolute shock at Leo Ray's words, their faces reflecting total disbelief.

Gavin Sullivan, who had just been helped to his feet, gasped as waves of realization crashed over him.

They might be simple hunters and farmers, but they understood the weight of a Tier 5 expert.

Such a powerhouse could tear through an entire army like a hot blade through fat!

Back in their homeland, only the most legendary generals serving the King possessed that kind of terrifying strength!

Without a doubt, their Lord had to be a royal prince out to gain experience in the world!

Simultaneously, a string of alerts rang in Leo Ray's mind.

[Congratulations! Your Tier 1 Two-star Hunter, Gavin Sullivan, has developed deep admiration for you. Loyalty has increased by 20 points, now totaling 70.]

[Congratulations! Your Tier 1 Two-star Hunter, George Duval, has developed deep admiration for you. Loyalty has increased by 20 points, now totaling 70.]

[Congratulations! Your Tier 1 Two-star Farmer, Magnolia Lee, has developed deep admiration for you. Loyalty has increased by 20 points, now totaling 70.]

[Congratulations! Your subordinate...]

[Note: Once a subordinate reaches 100 loyalty points, they will swear eternal fealty, and their loyalty will never drop again.]

Leo Ray looked slightly startled as he watched the loyalty of all 40 Tier 1 subordinates jump by 20 points at the same time.

So, he thought, this is how you earn their loyalty...
