Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1612 1612: Only Way (Part 2)
Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
Zargos observed Adam intently, scanning for transformations, and apart from the spasms in his facial features, a fresh event started to unfold.
"Hmm?" Zargos lifted an eyebrow as Adam grew composed. The agitation resembling a harrowing dream had vanished, leaving him in tranquil repose like a restful slumber.
Yet, his energy signature conveyed an entirely contrasting message.
'It's expanding,' Zargos observed, his gaze sharpening. 'This is both troubling and promising. It indicates he's resisting, perhaps prevailing, but... this stems from the First Star's power, making concealment improbable.'
It posed a challenging endeavor, yet Zargos resolved to attempt it.
"Merra, we need to conceal his aura."
"Yes!" Merra sprang into action without delay.
She pressed her hands together while the crimson sphere stretched outward, initially enveloping her palms, then her form, and extending beyond until a sheer, scarlet barrier enclosed the house's rear yard.
It spared Adam untouched, yet it ought to mask his aura to some extent.
Zargos refrained from erecting a shield, instead flicking his hand to unleash a mass of scarlet fire that merged into Merra's barrier, bolstering it substantially.
"Hmm..." He murmured contemplatively. "This forms a solid barrier. Should Adam deploy every secret technique simultaneously, no trace of his aura would escape, but given it involves Dark Energy... Tsk, complications seem unavoidable."
Currently, Adam and the pair faced no immediate peril, though uncertainty loomed once Adam roused.
The outburst of Dark Energy wasn't something a formidable beast could overlook. It shone like a beacon in the void, detectable across vast distances.
"Well, we'll tackle issues as they arise, right?" Zargos whispered to himself.
"Sir, perhaps we should reach out to a clan member, or preferably, your sister?"
Curiously, Zargos replied with a sly grin.
"Uh? You wish for her to witness my revelation prematurely? No chance. I'm eager to behold her reaction upon discovering my superiority once more, just prior to the clan head selection! Hahaha!"
Suddenly, shadows veiled his countenance as his energy surge made Merra's pulse halt briefly.
"Leave the other matters aside. Adam will manage his duty, and should intruders arrive, I can effortlessly reduce them to mere ashes using my Dark Energy, be it Morok and his team or any other foe."
Merra offered no further words. She recognized this outcome as inevitable.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
A mighty torrent of power erupted from Adam's frame, drawing a grin across Zargos's lips.
The shifts accelerated beyond their anticipation, and their shield wouldn't contain this ominous, ebony force for much longer.
...
Dark Silvana wielded her needle while retracting her arm for the impending thrust. Her needle's point targeted Adam squarely, who mirrored her posture but lacked any needle or armament.
He relied solely on his limbs, his energy, and the singular skill he had forged personally, not inherited from a gene, relic, or triumph against a mighty creature.
"My path is all I require to triumph!" Adam declared silently as he advanced a step.
Previously, he had never attempted invoking the path absent his needle. In his core, he had clung to the notion that the needle formed an integral component of this power, serving as his tool to forge the route toward his adversary and success.
He possessed a solitary opportunity. Exposing himself to Dark Silvana's assault would spell his doom. A single severe injury would conclude their confrontation, costing him all.
'Agh, it's odd that I can't reach the true Silvana, yet must battle her malevolent duplicate. Still, that fuels my drive to prevail!'
Step!
They advanced in unison, two streams of energy surging ahead. The shadowy one from Dark Silvana, carving a route to Adam, and the luminous one from Adam.
Neither anticipated this, but the dual paths clashed centrally, rendering retreat impossible.
Dark Silvana and Adam's bodies quivered as they lunged in a swift haze, departing their positions.
Crack. Crack. Crack.
The obscurity from the ruinous path shredded Adam's radiance, baring his shoulders.
Merely a fragile coating of light clung to his hands, acting as a final bulwark.
He clenched his jaw while the darkness, akin to a savage gale, raked his visage, seeking to strip away every bit of his glow.
It represented a might the First Star could never tolerate.
However, the First Star was absent here, leaving only Adam and his inner realm.
"That's insufficient!" He bellowed, striding forth at the risk of Dark Silvana's needle slicing his limb.
Clang!
The shadowy needle vibrated as an unseen shield blocked it from grazing Adam's hand.
Simultaneously, the final wisp of light at Adam's fingertips flared like the sun, exploding into a potent beam that draped him in a luminous shroud.
Dark Silvana's face twisted in terror. She yearned to withdraw, but found herself unable. In contrast to Adam, she ignored that the path forbade reversal. Upon activation, only success or failure lay ahead.
Crack. Crack. Crack.
Fissures propagated over her body, as Adam's path intensified while hers waned in potency. The once-ferocious darkness now flowed like a timid current.
"Hah, you replicated every one of my powers, except the crucial one?"
Adam grinned.
"Exactly." He affirmed with a nod. "You're merely a duplicate, whereas my path holds true!"
Whooooosh!
On the subsequent stride, Adam's velocity peaked, his white path ripping through the enveloping darkness for dozens of meters.
Fragments of glass scattered wildly as Dark Silvana shattered instantaneously.
The needle veered off, embedding into the darkness like a tangible wall. Rays of light pierced the fissures.
"Gha..."
Adam drew a profound breath, with energy circulating serenely around him.
Next, he gradually pivoted to regard the needle, focusing on its hilt.
Adam grinned.
"Time for us to reunite as partners once more. Don't you agree?"
