Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1605 1605: Reason for Kidnapping

Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
Alexia reels in shock and anger as Zargos kidnaps Adam, berating Ramilo for not fighting back despite his strength. Ramilo remains unfazed, assuring her that Adam will be fine and urging patience. Their earthworm reaches the vast cave at the border of the Primal Lands, where it stops before five powerful monsters led by the stoic Morok, who demand Adam Vinter's whereabouts. Ramilo reveals the kidnapping, claiming another force took Adam, which Morok doubts, heightening the standoff as Ramilo warns against interference.

Surprisingly, Liliane's miss, the one who commanded the abduction of Adam Vinter, wasn't the sole party from the Befallen Crown showing interest.

Morok's appearance on the scene confirmed this truth.

They held back until Goen finished his farewell to Adam, maintaining a distance great enough to evade Goen's detection. In doing so, they adhered to their scheme and resolved to encounter Adam exactly at the Primal Lands' edge.

Furthermore, while Morok's group was fewer in members compared to Liliane's, he and each of his followers vastly outmatched Liliane's crew in power.

Alexia sensed this disparity plainly, a faint shiver still coursing through her frame. Should Morok's team have confronted Liliane's, Morok would emerge victorious in every single clash, leaving Liliane without any hope.

Yet, Morok hadn't anticipated overpowering Ramilo and seizing Adam, and just one factor explained why:

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

A fearsome presence akin to shadowy fire burst from Ramilo, enveloping the wide area in gloom. Right at the heart of it sat Ramilo, legs folded, his azure eyes glowing intensely.

The four beasts recoiled instinctively by a step, while Morok stood firm, unmoving.

"Hah, you claim you're old?" Morok scoffed. "I bet you'll survive longer than all of us combined."

Ramilo bared a savage smile, cocking his head in a menacing tilt.

"So? What's your call, Morok? Do you allow me to escort this girl to the Citadel while you hunt for Adam Vinter on your own, or... do you prefer to probe my true abilities?"

This posed a tough dilemma. Internally, Morok recognized Ramilo's tale as pure fabrication. If truly inclined, Ramilo could shield Adam from nearly every beast in the Primal Lands.

Morok's strategy never factored in subduing Ramilo outright. His intent was merely to divert Ramilo for a brief few seconds. That span would suffice to snatch Adam and flee.

Morok held no illusions of total triumph over Ramilo. He knew such an outcome was impossible.

Nevertheless, circumstances forced him to gauge their prowess.

"Understood. You intend to keep this charade going." Morok inclined his head and eyed the youth to his left.

Morok gave a nod, and the youth vanished from sight.

Whoooooooosh.

Instantly after, the youth materialized to Ramilo's right, a flash streaking along his extended katana's edge. A single stroke could bisect the hillside.

Twitch.

Ramilo's digits jerked, and in the following instant, the youth's right limb was clutched in Ramilo's hold.

The youth's gaze bulged wide as he retreated abruptly, rematerializing beside his companions.

Drip. Drip. Drip.

Thick globs of blood fell from the gaping injury at his shoulder. In a flash, he had forfeited his arm, now held by Ramilo from fingertips to shoulder.

No visible agony crossed the youth's features. He simply pressed his palm to the wound, channeling energy to seal it shut.

Morok stayed composed too. This fell among the scenarios he had foreseen.

"Impressive display. That velocity... How can you label yourself aged after such a feat?"

Morok gestured toward the youth's severed limb.

"Will you return it to him, or—?"

Tap.

With a faint smirk, Ramilo rapped the youth's arm. The moment his talon met the flesh, the limb quivered and burst into gory fragments.

"I get it. That's exactly what I'd anticipated." Morok exhaled deeply.

Ramilo lifted his shoulders nonchalantly.

"Count your blessings I spared his life. He ventured too near. I could've torn his spine straight from his throat. A mere instant was all I needed. Plenty of time for that."

Morok realized this wasn't mere boasting on Ramilo's part.

"Tsk. Fine. Escort the girl to the Citadel if you wish; she's irrelevant to our goals."

Alexia creased her brow but held her tongue. The peril was too great.

"Alright then, clear off before I truly lose my temper. You're the second fool today attempting to rile me. Enough is enough."

Ramilo's gaze sharpened into perilous lines.

"My tolerance has limits."

Morok uttered no retort, merely flicking his wrist.

He vanished ahead, the remaining four Lords trailing as rapid silhouettes.

Whenever elite monsters clashed or sparred, resolutions typically came through words or swift strikes, just as here.

Beings of their caliber seldom dove into all-out wars carrying heavy death risks.

This stemmed not just from potential fatalities, but also from the havoc their blows would unleash and the scrutiny they'd draw.

No one could predict the fallout if Morok had unleashed his full might on Ramilo. Likely, Ramilo would have slain them all, and their brawl might have provoked some mighty creature in these territories to ally with Ramilo, win or lose.

In any event, Ramilo possessed far greater expertise here than Alexia, who stood stunned.

"Hold on... They just departed? That easily?"

Ramilo dipped his head.

"Indeed. They had no alternative. Whether they pursue Adam or head back to the Befallen Crown, it's beyond our concern now."

"What? Ramilo!" Alexia burst out in frustration. "We must track down the scum who snatched Adam and rescue him! This matters greatly!"

Ramilo offered a wry grin.

"Listen, you still haven't grasped it, have you?"

"Huh?" Alexia fluttered her eyelids repeatedly, bewildered.

"Zargos trailed Adam ever since his bout with Vaarh, spurred by intrigue. Thus, he learned of Morok and his group's intentions before anyone.

Ramilo gestured dismissively.

"Zargos's assault on us aimed not to abduct Adam for the Befallen Crown, but to shield him from Morok and spare us the headache."

Alexia's mouth fell open in disbelief. She refused to accept it.

Ramilo rubbed his jawline.

"Damn, he ought to have explained that upfront instead of mid-fight. What's keeping him now?"
