Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1603: Secret of the Battle (Part 2)

"What is this?"
Adam swallowed hard.
’Could that truly be Ramilo?’
Although his thoughts confirmed it was Ramilo without doubt, all thanks to the transformation, his gaze refused to accept the sight.
’He’s not just altered; his tail’s gone, yet those claws and that build... Damn, just how powerful has he become?’
Slowly, Ramilo pivoted, his massive blue eyes capturing the images of Adam and Alexia within them.
"Take a good look. I didn’t plan to reveal this during our initial encounter, yet... this fool forced my hand."
’Understood...’ Adam thought to himself with a nod. ’His looks aren’t the only shift; his mood’s transformed as well, hasn’t it? Though, cracking jokes in such a shape would’ve been downright terrifying.’
Alexia remained speechless; much like Adam, astonishment gripped her at Ramilo’s ability to undergo such a change.
"Very well, Zargos, let’s wrap this up. We’ll depart the Primal Lands shortly, and I’d rather avoid drawing eyes in the Dead Lands."
Zargos offered no resistance. Instead, he flung his arms apart as vivid crimson fires blazed, mirroring in his golden eyes.
"Come on, strike!"
Crack!
A chunk from the stone slab shot aside while Ramilo surged ahead. Amid the darkness, he positioned himself directly before Zargos with astonishing velocity; even amid the dire circumstances, Zargos kept his grin intact.
A gleam streaked over Ramilo’s talons as icy blue power surged along his arm. This wasn’t some skill—he adhered to the guidelines—yet the might of the blow could shred Zargos apart.
Yet Zargos made no move to evade.
"Excellent! That’s true swiftness!" Zargos shouted, raising his palms defensively before him.
The azure talons clashed against the red shield, though Ramilo had vanished already, striking at Zargos from the rear.
"You had the opportunity to flee when I offered it!" Ramilo’s talons aimed directly at Zargos’s throat.
Zargos whirled about, deflecting Ramilo’s arm away. The frozen talons sliced mere inches from his gaze.
"I arrived with a clear purpose, and I shall fulfill it! Watch me! I’ll claim what’s mine!"
Ramilo’s brow furrowed. Without another word, his eyes sharpened, entering complete predator state.
Slash! Slash! Slash!
Over the following moments, Ramilo and Zargos traded a relentless barrage of blows. However, unlike earlier when Zargos effortlessly delivered searing hits on Ramilo, causing agonizing scorches, the tide had turned completely now.
Zargos found it hard to counter Ramilo’s onslaughts. At times, he lacked the moment to guard or push back the assaults, leading to fresh gashes across his arms or torso. Nevertheless, victory remained possible for Zargos since he guarded his face and throat—his weakest areas—from Ramilo’s reach.
"Your thoughts?" Adam inquired, observing the clash intently. "Stripped of their powers, these pair still pack such might. Should Vaarh or myself end up in their midst, we’d turn to diced flesh in an instant, sliced with pinpoint accuracy like lasers."
Silvana gave a wry smile.
"No need for such exaggeration. Should a K0 or K1 Phantom witness your bout with Vaarh, they’d react identically."
Adam’s eyes tightened.
"True, yet that misses the mark. As the saying goes, there’s forever a greater force out there. Still... could Damien ever face something like this? Is there truly a being in this realm mighty enough to make Damien hesitate to approach?’
Silvana grew quiet, the response all too clear. Strength possessed boundaries, and until Adam neared those edges, he held zero hope of halting the World Wipe.
Against the First Star and Last Star, what recourse did he possess?
Crack!
Ramilo’s strike hurled Zargos backward, yet he planted his stance solidly, avoiding a lengthy tumble.
"Far from over!"
In the instant that followed, Ramilo materialized before Zargos, poised to seize his skull and conclude the skirmish.
Such was his error.
Regardless of the danger, Zargos advanced, evading the lethal talons just in time. Blood spurted from his throat, though the inferno swiftly cauterized it to a faint mark.
"Your move now! You frightening ancient feline!"
Clutch!
Zargos seized Ramilo’s throat, clenching the quivering sinews. Escape eluded Ramilo; he merely observed as the scarlet blaze traveled along Zargos’s limb, set to incinerate him entirely.
Ramilo’s sole path lay in deploying his powers, but... dared he violate the code?
A choice awaited him.
Tap.
Abruptly, Zargos patted his shoulder and bent in close.
He murmured words meant solely for Ramilo’s ears, causing Ramilo’s gaze to bulge in disbelief.
Right then, rather than igniting Ramilo, Zargos flung him ahead, directly into the earthworm head.
Ramilo’s spine crashed against the stone slab, imprinting a wide scorch on his torso.
Though capable of rising with full effort, he made no attempt to stand.
Step.
Adam and Alexia lifted their gazes to meet Zargos’s golden eyes, brimming with triumph and intrigue.
His objective was met.
"Damn!" Adam cursed while attempting to bolt.
"Halt."
Blazing chains ensnared Adam, halting his motion.
The contest with Zargos concluded, allowing him to unleash his powers on Adam, who paled in comparison. Their strengths diverged vastly.
"You! Don’t you dare!" Alexia cried out, charging Zargos with a storm of strikes.
Sporting a faint grin, he parried every blow using a single hand prior to clasping her arm.
Alexia’s eyes expanded. Unbelievable—she hadn’t landed so much as a mark. He’d handled her as if she were a mere kid!
"As I stated earlier, harm won’t come to you."
Whooooooosh.
He hurled her aside, where she landed beside Ramilo.
Next, Zargos took hold of the fiery chains, hoisting Adam as one might a bag.
Glancing back, he cast Ramilo a final stare laden with multiple implications.
Puff!
Amid a burst of flame, Zargos vanished.
His objective was met.
