Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1586 1586: Beginning of Real Power

Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
The mysterious woman behind Liliane's team summoned the Old Horn to counter the unexpected protector of Adam Vinter, ensuring their capture mission succeeds. Upon arrival, the Old Horn joins the fifth team as its eighth member under Liliane's command, revealing his formidable ice axe and aura that scatters the ice wyverns. As the group launches a coordinated assault on the red-haired hunter Goen, who guards Adam and Alexia behind a smoke barrier, he effortlessly blocks the Old Horn's strike with his bare hand and repels Liliane's rapier with mere energy, hurling her into another attacker. Adam watches in awe at Goen's overwhelming power.

Bam! Bam! Bam!

A barrage of strikes from seven beasts poured onto one lone figure, yet this person appeared far from troubled by the onslaught.

Goen's speed was blinding, leaving Adam and Alexia, who observed the clash, struggling to catch more than a glimpse of his motions.

Meanwhile, the assaults from the fifth team's members were plain to spot for them, save for the Old Horn.

"This beast, he stands out from the rest," Adam pondered while gazing at the Old Horn. "If these seven answer straight to the Befallen Crown, then he's likely just a hired hand, isn't he? Damn, so during all this while in the Primal Lands, a guy like him has been around?"

Just the Old Horn managed to match Goen evenly, though calling it even stretched the truth.

Indeed, Goen relied solely on his bare hands and energy, whereas the Old Horn swiftly called forth his axe.

"Come on, kids! Unleash your real strength!" The Old Horn shouted in thrill. "Don't you notice he doesn't deem you fit to witness his weapon? If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't tolerate that kind of insult!"

Whoooooosh.

Grasping his axe firmly with both hands, the Old Horn swung it downward at Goen with full force.

Swiftly, Goen contorted his body, letting the axe slice mere inches from his torso. Its edge cleaved the lake apart, carving a broad streak of frost right through the middle.

Right then, scorching warmth surged from overhead, prompting Goen to spin about. Oddly, this particular assault drew his focus.

The hammer wielder channeled his energy into his tool, igniting it in blazing red fire capable of thawing the snow even within the Primal Lands.

"You can't evade this blow!" The hammer man bellowed while vapor started steaming up from the lake's surface.

An odd shift overtook Goen. His gaze flicked wildly about, searching as though for an exit.

"Is he scared?" Adam wondered. He found it hard to accept this turn. "Is that blow truly so perilous? Does fire weaken Goen?"

Truth be told, such notions crossed everyone's minds. All had witnessed the sharp shift in Goen's face, yet none grasped the true cause.

Whoooooooosh.

Just prior to the impact, Goen vanished, reappearing directly before the hammer man. He seized the burly fighter by the neck like a lifeless doll, then hurled him ahead toward the falls.

"You... What are you...!"

Mid-air, the hammer man reached for the rim, but Goen had already positioned himself in his path.

With an icy glare, he delivered a kick square to the man's jaw, sending him tumbling over the waterfall.

Moreover, Goen pursued the fellow down to the rushing river beneath.

The rest exchanged glances. Confusion gripped them, yet they had no option except to trail their companion. Allowing Goen to pick them off individually would prove a grave error.

"Go! We must aid him!" Liliane cried out, charging ahead without delay.

The group trailed after Liliane, with Adam and Alexia edging nearer the brink too, the shielding mist shifting in their wake. They yearned to witness the events unfolding.

But... something felt off.

"Agh?"

Adam whirled about, fixing his eyes on the youth who, amid the chaos, remained rooted in place.

"What's the matter with you? Why disregard the battle and refuse to assist them?"

"Hmm?" The youth parted his amber eyes a touch. "Wouldn't that spell good fortune for you? One foe stays sidelined. I'd rejoice in that."

Adam's brow creased.

"No, that's no good tidings whatsoever, quite the opposite. You're biding time for something, right?"

A sly curve lifted the youth's mouth corners.

"Perhaps, or perhaps not. This tracker packs power, yet inevitably, he'll slip up. It's inevitable."

The youth fell silent beyond that. Temporarily, he turned into a mere bystander.

"Release me!" The hammer man yelled, leaping away.

Bruises marred his throat, and crimson trickled from his jaw. Such damage came from only two strikes, yet he stood poised to continue battling.

Tension thickened the air, until...

"Hahahahahahahaha!" The Old Horn's guffaws boomed as he smacked his knee. "Apologies, I simply can't hold back! Hahahahaha!"

Liliane's eyes tightened.

"What's so amusing?"

The Old Horn dismissed with a gesture.

"It concerns none of you. See, you all caught how this tracker grew jittery right before that final blow, didn't you? Hahaha, I'm certain plenty figured he dreaded taking the hit, but actually, his frenzy stemmed from another source entirely!"

"Hmm?"

Liliane found herself surprised.

"What are you getting at? I'd surely dread for my survival facing such a fierce blaze assault!"

The Old Horn rubbed his head's rear.

"Sure, you might, but he wouldn't. What irked him alone was the blaze, more precisely its impact on the snow and lake."

Dawning awareness hit their squad.

"He merely sought to prevent the fiery strike from boiling away the lake's waters, ruining his dwelling." The Old Horn faced Goen. "Is that spot on?"

Goen gave a nod.

"Yeah. I poured heaps of energy and effort into discovering this spot. I won't let it go to ruin over some youngsters who fancy themselves mighty."

To Liliane, this proved the breaking point.

"Now!" She thrust her rapier toward Goen. "We'll wrap up this brawl at once!"

All grasped her command.

The girl with blue locks moved first. Her earlier blasts left Goen untouched, but as a true Lord, she held an ace up her sleeve.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

Her presence swelled while a azure ring bearing multiple stars hovered in front of her.

Adam recognized these powers from before. Lords had deployed them against Saegar during the Dark Shore confrontation.

The blue-haired girl selected a star, proclaiming:

"Azure Hail!"

The hammer bearer and axe bearer activated their skills too. Once the trio picked stars from their rings, vibrant zones of varying hues sprang forth: blue, yellow, red, each tied to distinct elements.

Goen gave a blink upon spotting countless azure specks dotting the heavens above. On one side, fires amassed, and on the other, bolts crackled.

'At last, they've chosen to reveal their true prowess? Fine. It'll prove valuable to gauge the abilities of today's Lords.'
