Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1580 1580: End of Rest (Part 1)
Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
Adam gazed down at the enormous piranha lying by his feet for an instant before glancing over at Goen, to whom such a sight was entirely routine.
"I suppose this piranha doesn't wow you at all?" Adam inquired.
Goen merely shrugged in reply.
"I hate to let you down, but spotting even fiercer fish and aquatic beasts in these waters is pretty standard. Still, for a beginner, this catch is plenty impressive."
Alexia gestured dismissively with her hand.
"Let me give it a shot as well! I know I can reel in more than Adam!"
Goen folded his arms across his torso.
"Feel free. Just don't make it a contest. Catch one more, and we're done. You're visitors, after all, but we can't handle that much to eat."
"Hah!" Alexia laughed lightly. "You have no idea how much I can pack away! Alright, though, one go should let me outdo Adam easily!"
Goen went through the instructions with Alexia exactly like he had with Adam earlier, and nothing out of the ordinary occurred.
With high hopes of landing a true oceanic beast, she tossed the bobber into the depths, refusing to accept anything ordinary.
Tick. Tick. Tick.
Alexia's eyes bulged as the bobber suddenly tugged. She yanked the rod even quicker than Adam, hauling the line from the water.
Yet... no massive silhouette or terrifying aquatic creature emerged.
A small fish, scarcely larger than her hand, plopped down before Alexia. It wiggled its fin desperately, yearning to slip back into the lake.
"What in the world is this?!" Alexia yelled.
Her gaze bounced between Adam and Goen repeatedly.
"No way, no way! That doesn't count! Let me have another chance!"
But in a flash, before Alexia even processed it, Goen had stepped in front, snatching the fishing rod from her grasp.
Slipping the rod onto his shoulder, he pivoted away.
"That was your one shot. Like I mentioned, we've got plenty already. Come with me, pick out some seasonings. I've got tons."
Alexia balled her hands into fists, yet she followed his lead. Goen wasn't overly strict, but it was obvious he wasn't the type to trifle with.
Consequently, Adam found himself solitary beside the campfire. The glowing embers' warmth would persist for quite a while, several hours at minimum, right up to the fading of the final ember.
'Hah, back in the day, a single spark much like that one flipped my entire existence upside down. True, it wasn't actual fire, yet... the parallels are undeniable.'
He settled onto a nearby stone, eyes lifted to the starry night above while gradually shutting his lids. Sleep wasn't on his mind—he had no urge for it now—but a crucial task awaited him.
Enveloped in shadows, he gradually lifted his eyelids.
A transformation had swept through the Path Construct, with one requirement now met, allowing the Third Grand Star to gleam well ahead of schedule.
Nevertheless, Adam's attention locked onto the Evolution Tree, particularly its core section housing not just one of his genes, but also a truly vital presence.
In a blink, Adam spanned vast distances, materializing directly within Lone Blaze's domain.
"Oh..." He breathed out, fixated on her transformed form. "How often has your look shifted now? The third time, maybe fourth?"
A subtle smile curved Lone Blaze's lips as she faced him.
"Does the number count for anything? The key point is my strength has surged ahead. You're aware of that already. What are your thoughts on the new power you've unlocked?"
"On that note."
Adam blinked once more, and glowing runes materialized in front of him.
[End Bliss
Amid the fury of clashing with a mighty foe, you attained peak ecstasy. The intensity of combat blinded you to the turmoil brewing deep within your core strength. Yet now, through your resolve and the support of comrades who heeded your inner call, you've seized the might to reduce the mightiest adversary to mere dust.]
"Hmm?"
Curiosity arched Adam's brow.
"I sensed some kind of shift occurring, though I couldn't grasp the details. You holding up alright?"
Lone Blaze gave a nod.
"Absolutely. I've never felt more vital. That said... reliving the ordeal of enduring that torrent of fresh power isn't appealing. One issue demands your attention, though."
"Huh?"
Lone Blaze averted her eyes without a word.
Adam whipped around precisely in time to spot the Silver Weaver lounging in the gloom like it was furniture. Legs folded neatly, hands... well, Adam spotted the anomaly right away.
"What? What happened to your left arm?"
The Silver Weaver shot a sharp look at Lone Blaze.
"Put it this way: your surge of energy proved far wilder than anticipated. I sacrificed a piece of myself to ensure Lone Blaze pulled through. If not... she'd have perished, you'd have failed against that dragon, and doom would have claimed us all."
Adam gave a contemplative nod, recognizing the gravity and his fortune that the Silver Weaver had acted decisively to avert disaster.
"Alright, how long until you're whole again? Losing that limb weakens your part, so my skill suffers too, doesn't it?"
The Silver Weaver affirmed with a nod.
"While I'm not fully restored, steer clear of relying on the needle. Energy reserves are solid—all that's required is time and quicker circulation via the Evolution Tree."
He went on:
"Essentially, training or battling would speed my healing, but it's optional."
"Got it. Then I'll avoid scraps altogether. No sense in gambling, even if it accelerates your mending. A week flies by quick enough."
With his remaining hand, the Silver Weaver gestured casually.
"Reasonable."
After a brief exchange on other matters, Adam prepared to depart, though he first neared the Path Construct.
Portions of its destined radiance had already touched the Third Grand Star in his Constellation, yet it fell short.
Two additional requirements remained for him to complete.
"Blood of God and Bottomless Void, correct?" Adam whispered, eyeing the immense device.
Shadows deepened in his stare.
"If dragon blood won't do, what else satisfies that, and... Bottomless Void?"
A quiver touched Adam's mouth.
"Damn, that sounds downright ominous."
