Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1485: Theories
Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
The transformation in Adam’s expression as Silvana enumerated the potential elements of the Highest Bliss left a profound impression on her.
Though it was nothing more than speculation, Adam currently resembled a famished man listening to a vivid description of a rare delicacy—one capable of astonishing even the most sophisticated and seasoned connoisseurs.
A deep hunger took hold of him. He yearned to feel everything Silvana described, and strangely, the sole path to that experience involved engaging a formidable opponent under life-threatening circumstances.
For the time being, however, it remained a theoretical concept that had merely captured Adam’s interest.
Crk. Crk. Crk.
Her pencil scratched across the paper, marking a "?" beside the Highest Bliss. Silvana wasn't entirely certain how closely her hypothesis aligned with the truth, but she couldn't deny its plausibility, particularly after witnessing Adam's intense response.
’Every Grand Star accounts for all of Adam’s previous path and the choices he has made. From that perspective, it makes sense that he must reach the Highest Bliss to further his evolution.’
While Adam felt nearly certain that a battle against a powerful foe was the key, Silvana managed to settle him down. They agreed to keep the theory as a tentative option for the future.
Moments later, Silvana bit her lip, her hand tightening on her shoulder.
’Tsk, it seems Adam’s thirst for dangerous combat is becoming contagious. When I looked into his eyes—those two endless abysses—they seemed to pull me in. The urge to gamble everything and plunge into a savage, bloody struggle resonated within my own heart.’
"Hey, are you still with me?" Adam asked, tilting his head with a confused expression.
"Agh?"
Silvana blinked, snapping back to reality.
"Yes, I was just lost in thought. So... we’ve tentatively settled on the Highest Bliss as a starting point. Do you have any thoughts on the Bottomless Void?"
"Hmm..." Adam hummed thoughtfully. "Could it be the polar opposite?"
Silvana raised a skeptical eyebrow.
"I doubt that’s it. If we assume the Highest Bliss requires you to fight and reach a peak of emotion, what would the Bottomless Void require? Doing absolutely nothing? Or perhaps immediate surrender? That doesn't seem right."
Adam rubbed his chin as he pondered the idea.
"Yeah, I’d go as far as to say it sounds terrible. I have no intention of losing! More importantly, I won't admit defeat when victory is still possible!"
They brainstormed several more concepts, which Silvana recorded on her notepad, though none of these theories felt as solid as their ideas regarding the Highest Bliss.
However...
Everything changed when they reached the final requirement: the Blood of God.
Adam and Silvana exchanged a silent look. While they were aware of the various beings inhabiting this world, the majority were either Phantoms or monsters.
Hybrids, Touched Humans, and even Artifacts were part of the equation, but their numbers paled in comparison to the billions of monsters and humans.
"Blood of God, huh?" Silvana let out a dry laugh. "What exactly is that supposed to be? Could it just be a specific type of monster?"
"Well... that seems too straightforward. I don't think it's that simple. I considered that it might refer to a specific tier of power, but a God? Even the most formidable Lords don't claim the title of a god. Besides, if that were the case, I wouldn't stand a chance. A single drop of such blood would likely contain enough energy to vaporize me!"
Tap. Tap. Tap.
Silvana drummed her fingers on the table, her face clouded with thought. No matter how much she racked her brain, she couldn't fathom where one might obtain the Blood of God.
"It looks like we'll need to seek outside counsel after all. Though, I suspect you were planning on that regardless, weren't you?"
Leaning back in his chair, Adam gave a casual shrug.
"Back when I was confused about the Connected Heart and the Dark Heart, Damien was the one who helped me grasp them. Though... if I'm being honest, his explanations are usually terrible. Regardless, I’d like to get his take on this."
"Understood. I'll reach out to Beth in a few days. I’m not sure about Damien's schedule, but hopefully, we'll get lucky."
"Kha!" Adam laughed. "Given how absurdly strong that guy is, he probably only takes on a mission once every six months. Just imagine how dire a situation has to be for him to personally step in."
Silvana narrowed her eyes. "Hmm. I hadn't looked at it that way. You're likely right. If a crisis is severe enough for the Citadel to request his presence, it’s a rare occurrence that usually happens in some distant land."
Wasting no time, Silvana sent a message to Beth, who served as Damien’s Operator. Silvana had kept her contact info since they had encountered Damien several times for various reasons—sometimes for advice, sometimes for joint missions, and occasionally for a sparring session where Damien would beat Adam senseless.
Afterward, they prepared two cups of hot coffee, reflecting on their next steps.
Achieving the Third Grand Star represented a vital milestone in Adam's evolution, meaning they couldn't afford to be reckless. Precision was key.
"Tsk, starting tomorrow morning, I'm going to dig through all the records regarding your conditions. I'll find the answers, and..."
Tap.
Adam reached out and gently took her hands, causing Silvana to gasp in surprise. She had become far too absorbed in the research.
"Relax. This isn't a death sentence; it's just a set of requirements. I'm certain that in time, we'll figure it out and identify which of the three paths is the most viable for me to complete. I'll head back to the Dead Lands eventually, but for now..."
He gestured toward their quiet kitchen.
"Shouldn't we be focusing on the party we're hosting?"
"The party?"
Adam nodded in confirmation.
"I thought it would be a good idea to invite Alexia and Louis. Since we ran into them at the casino and discovered Alexia is at a similar level to me, I think it would be beneficial to discuss things further."
After a brief pause, Silvana nodded her agreement.
"You're right. The food... I should focus on the menu."
Adam nodded, though his eyes darkened with a fleeting thought.
’Yeah, preparing a gourmet meal is definitely going to be simpler than tracking down the Blood of God.’
