Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1480: House on Top (Part 1)

Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
After spending the evening with his parents discussing his relationship with Silvana and the weight of commitment, Adam finally finds a moment of peace to rest. His mother, Leona, urges him to value the time he has, unaware of the looming threats he faces. The next morning, Adam reunites with his younger sister, Trici, before being pulled into a rare moment of domestic normalcy. Despite his responsibilities at the Dead Lands, he agrees to help his family bake, momentarily setting aside his life as a warrior for the sake of his loved ones.

Residing within the Citadel's core provided numerous benefits, ranging from grand advantages like top-tier security and infrastructure to the simple conveniences of daily life, such as grocery shopping.

Every major retailer in the Citadel offered delivery services directly to the doorstep of Adam’s family, whether they needed household appliances, new clothes, or fresh food.

Leona and Gary still had the option to visit the shops in person, but if their schedules were tight, nothing stopped them from placing a delivery order.

Step. Step. Step.

As Adam and Leona walked toward the front gate, a faint buzzing echoed from the sky.

“Hmm?”

Turning his head, he spotted a drone descending toward them, carrying several crates of groceries.

“Is this how you usually shop?”

Leona shook her head in response. “Not really. Maybe I’m just old-fashioned, but I still like going to the market myself. There is a certain charm in picking out your own produce, seeing other faces, and strolling through the aisles. It beats staring at a screen and clicking on product photos.”

She pulled out her smartphone to confirm the delivery once the drone touched down and released the boxes at their entrance.

“Still, I use delivery occasionally. It’s undeniably quick and efficient. It would be foolish to ignore the comforts you’ve provided for us.”

A bashful smile crossed Adam’s face for a moment.

“Yeah, it’s a nice area. No argument there.”

Since Adam was entirely devoted to the path of evolution, spending the bulk of his life either training or in the Dead Lands, he rarely cared for things like social status or wealth.

However, without his influence, his parents would have struggled to even reach the Second Ring, let alone secure a place in the absolute center of the First Ring.

They were ordinary people who lacked high-level careers, power, or influential ties. Leona, Gary, and Trici were incredibly fortunate that a member of their family had become a Phantom—especially one as formidable as Adam.

Tap.

Adam lifted the boxes from the pavement, noticing glimpses of peaches, oranges, and pears through the packaging.

“Are all of these fruits for a single pie?”

Leona gave a firm nod.

“Yes, but I’m making more than just a pie! I’m thinking of crispy buns and eclairs filled with smooth cream. You’d be surprised how much free time you have when you don’t have to worry about finances anymore. Cooking has always been a passion of mine, so why not indulge in it?”

“Hah, I suppose you’re right.” Adam nodded. “By the way, you and Dad are doing alright, aren’t you?”

Leona’s lips curled into a warm smile as she reached out to ruffle his hair.

“Of course! We survived the slums together and raised two great kids. You could say we’ve entered an early retirement.”

Adam let out a soft sigh.

“I’m glad to hear that. I really am.”

His desire was to protect the world as it was, particularly his family. Seeing others thrive served as a powerful motivator for him.

Whether this peace would endure or vanish depended entirely on his strength.

...

Several hours later, as evening approached, Adam had already finished two pies and a handful of eclairs when his phone buzzed with messages.

[Silvana: Hey, I figured I’d message you here instead of using our link, well... you know. If you have the time, we could go over some potential places today.]

Adam scanned the kitchen, seeing Trici struggling to fit another bite of pie into her mouth while Leona and Gary chatted over the dishes they were washing together.

‘Time to handle the final task, then.’ He thought, typing a reply to Silvana.

He would have plenty of opportunities to be with his family and Silvana later, but if he was to move forward and return to the Dead Lands, he needed to ensure every loose end was tied.

Securing a home for himself and Silvana was the final item on his list.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Acting like any other citizen, Adam hailed a taxi. Before long, a black vehicle pulled up to the gate, and Adam began his journey toward the skyline of skyscrapers.

Both this residential district and the skyscrapers were part of the First Ring’s center, but while one was a public hub filled with restaurants, offices, and shops, the other was an exclusive zone for the elite and government officials.

Within minutes, the car arrived at the first skyscraper on their itinerary. Silvana was already there, waiting near the main doors.

Standing beside her was a middle-aged woman holding a tablet. She wore professional office clothes, her blonde hair pulled back into a sharp bun, her green eyes looking out through thin-rimmed spectacles.

This was clearly the real estate agent. Her role was to present each option, explain the pricing and features of the apartments, and manage the legal work.

“Hi, is everything set?” Adam asked, waving as the woman stepped forward to greet him.

“It is a pleasure to meet you, Adam Vinter. I’ve heard much of your reputation, and I am honored to assist you in selecting your new residence.”

Adam rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.

“Hah, I’m not sure if we’ll settle on something today, but if we find the right spot, I’m open to it.”

The agent smiled, clearly confident she would be closing a major sale before the day was out.

“We have several towers to visit. Once you see the selections Silvana and I have curated, you won't be able to turn them down!”

Adam looked at Silvana, who gave him a small nod. She had picked out some of the listings herself, while the agent had suggested a few others.

They moved toward the entrance as Adam cast his gaze upward.

They were surrounded by a forest of majestic skyscrapers, towering structures of glass, steel, and concrete that reached between 80 and 120 stories high. The options were endless.
