Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1466 - Capítulo 1466: She Only Loses
Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
After spending a portion of their time at the slot machines and sipping a few cocktails at the bar, Adam and Silvana made their way back into the main hall to seek out fresh thrills.
As one would expect from any prestigious casino, the floor was filled with various games where one could test their fortune.
“So, should we give craps a shot? Or maybe we should just act like retirees and buy a lottery ticket?” Silvana proposed, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
Adam scanned the surroundings while scratching the back of his head.
A peculiar sensation washed over him. He felt the urge to experience everything at once, yet the abundance of choices made it impossible to settle on a single activity. It was the classic dilemma of having too many options.
“What about blackjack? I’ve heard the rules are quite straightforward, and I suspect our odds of winning might be higher there, don't you think?” Adam remarked.
He was fully prepared to watch their chips vanish, as he harbored no illusions about the difficulty of profiting from a casino, yet he acknowledged that luck could strike at any moment. Furthermore, certain games carried more risk than others. Some allowed a player to influence the outcome, whereas others—like the slots—required nothing more than repeatedly pulling a lever and praying for success.
“Blackjack?” Silvana pondered, her finger tracing her lips. “Yeah, I’ve always been curious about that one. But… where is the right table?”
As they wandered in search of a seat, a furious roar erupted from nearby:
“DAMN IT! Why is my luck always so pathetic!!!”
The outburst was so thunderous that it caused everyone in the vicinity to jump.
Adam and Silvana were no different. Normally, such a scene wouldn't be unusual, as the cycle of winning and losing in a casino often pushed people to their emotional limits; everyone understood that tension.
However… a certain quality in that voice caused Adam to snap his head toward the source.
“Wait, was that just my imagination, or was that—?” Adam’s confusion grew as he stepped forward. Silvana trailed behind him, sharing his suspicion. The voice echoed with a strange familiarity, though she struggled to pinpoint exactly when she had last heard it.
Navigating past several banks of slot machines, they arrived at a section dedicated to various table games. Alongside blackjack, craps, and poker, the area was dominated by a vast array of roulette wheels.
Seated at one of these tables was a young woman with vibrant blue hair, light freckles, and piercing green eyes. While her looks might be considered adorable or even gentle by some, her face was currently twisted into a scowl fierce enough to intimidate a high-level monster.
Standing behind her as a sharp contrast was an elegantly dressed young man. His hair shared her blue hue but was lighter and longer, and his deep, azure eyes combined with his refined features to make the surrounding ladies' hearts flutter.
Yet, none of those women stood a chance with such a handsome individual; the girl who had just suffered a massive loss at the roulette table would certainly never permit anyone else to claim him.
Adam and Silvana traded stunned looks. It seemed impossible, but the pair was undeniably Alexia and Louis.
Their last encounter had been ages ago, prior to Adam's imprisonment following the fairground incident. However, Adam had occasionally caught wind of Alexia’s growing reputation and her triumphs on the battlefield.
Louis was among the most elite Operators of his rank that Silvana was acquainted with, and they had occasionally collaborated in the past.
“Ha, I certainly didn't anticipate finding them here. Though, given Alexia's fiery personality, it’s not shocking she’d come here to lose her shirt.”
Silvana cocked her head to the side.
“I take it we’ve found our next stop?”
Adam let out a soft laugh. “Definitely. I have no doubt her losses far outweigh her wins; I’m just curious to see the exact damage.”
Step. Step. Step.
As the croupier readied the wheel for the upcoming round and the players prepared their stakes, the two newcomers approached the table.
They went unnoticed by the crowd. To the others, they were merely two more guests looking to challenge the odds of the spinning wheel. At that moment, the only concern on everyone's mind was whether to bet on red or black.
“Well, well, it looks like some people are just as wild as they’ve always been, wouldn’t you say?” Adam teased, fixed his gaze on Alexia.
She failed to notice him at first, but a flicker of bewilderment soon crossed her face as the familiar tone of his voice registered.
Before Alexia could even offer a response, Louis moved forward, extending his hand in greeting.
“Oh, Adam, Silvana—what a pleasant surprise. It’s been quite a long time. Meeting you both here is a wonderful stroke of fortune, which is exactly what Alexia is currently lacking.”
“Yeah, it really has been a while.” Adam nodded, meeting the handshake.
Louis shifted his attention to Silvana and gave a polite bow. His demeanor was that of a refined prince, making Alexia’s behavior seem even more like that of a barbarian by comparison.
“I am glad to see that you and Adam have found your path, much like Alexia and myself. It truly pleases me.”
Silvana turned her head slightly, looking a bit bashful.
“Yes, the road has been long, but we’ve all put in a tremendous amount of effort.”
Alexia narrowed her eyes, her gaze boring into Adam.
In contrast to Louis’s immediate friendliness, she remained slumped in her seat, propped up by her elbow.
“Hmm… how the hell did you get so powerful?” she grumbled, picking up on his composed yet immense aura.
Adam simply smirked in response, noting that Alexia’s own aura was every bit as formidable as his.
“Ha, I was about to ask you the same thing. Just how many wars did you have to fight to reach that level of strength?”
Alexia dismissed the question with a wave of her hand.
“Look, I’m happy to see you and all, but… I’m really not in the mood. I haven't managed a single win in two hours!”
Louis, standing nearby, shook his head in disapproval of her claim.
“You had at least five chances to walk away with a significant profit, but you refused to stop, convinced you could double or triple your money.”
Alexia puffed out her cheeks in annoyance.
“I enjoy winning! Since when is that a crime?”
Meanwhile, Adam glanced over at the croupier, who was already calling for the next round of bets.
“Well, perhaps one of the four of us will get lucky this time. What do you think?”
