Su Lin engaged in a brutal life-and-death struggle against a desperate lynx, devouring its flesh mid-battle to fuel his growth. This ferocity allowed him to reach Level 4, where he funneled his new attribute points into speed before delivering a final, bone-shattering blow to his opponent. For his overwhelming victory, he was rewarded with the Hunting Talent, a powerful ability that temporarily boosts his physical capabilities. After securing the carcasses of both the lynx and a reindeer, Su Lin returned to the cave to provide for the pack and establish a clear hierarchy among the pups.

Once Wolf Sister and Cousin had satisfied their hunger, Su Lin allowed the little lone wolf and the other juvenile wolf to begin their meal.

Driven by starvation, the little lone wolf lunged at the reindeer carcass the moment it was given permission, devouring the meat ravenously.

Even though it was merely a cub, its consuming speed was remarkably fast.

Su Lin paid this no mind.

He returned to his favorite spot behind the rock and settled down to rest.

The cave was now overflowing with food; even if Wolf Dad and Wolf Mom returned, there would be enough for a magnificent feast.

Following the life-and-death struggle against the lynx, Su Lin felt the weight of exhaustion from the day's events.

Wolf Sister, now full and content, trotted back to Su Lin's side.

She curled up against him and quickly drifted off to sleep.

In the frigid Arctic, daylight is fleeting.

Evening arrived in what seemed like a heartbeat.

Upon waking, Su Lin stretched his limbs and realized that Wolf Dad and Wolf Mom were still missing.

As for the reindeer remains, the little lone wolf and its companion had diligently dragged them deeper into the cave after finishing their meal.

This was done to ensure that the scent of fresh blood wouldn't lure other predators to their den.

Seeing that the little lone wolf—usually known only for its demanding attitude—could be so useful, Su Lin inwardly gave it a favorable evaluation.

He stood up and paced toward the cave's mouth.

As he reached the threshold, a blast of icy wind slammed into him.

Despite his thick, protective fur, the chill bit deep into Su Lin, serving as a reminder of the Arctic Continent's brutal temperatures.

He peered out into the vast, frozen distance.

The wind was intensifying, whipping up layers of ancient ice and snow from the tundra floor.

It appeared a massive blizzard was on the horizon.

A heavy feeling of concern settled in Su Lin’s chest.

The delay of Wolf Dad and Wolf Mom was likely connected to this weather.

The entire Wolf Pack, consisting of eight adult Arctic Wolves, had ventured out from the den together.

On this continent, as long as they avoided provoking dominant predators like the Polar Bear or Grizzly Bear, few hunters could truly threaten such a group.

A creature like the lynx he had fought would never dare to challenge a coordinated Arctic Wolf Pack; it would simply tuck its tail and flee in silence.

“Wolf Dad and the others likely sensed the storm and have found a place to hunker down,” Su Lin reasoned.

He pushed away negative thoughts. Wolf Dad and Wolf Mom were seasoned survivors who wouldn't take unnecessary risks.

Watching the storm worsen outside, Su Lin remained relatively calm.

Their current food supply was substantial.

The Arctic reindeer carcass, weighing nearly two hundred pounds, provided enough sustenance to last the cubs for several days.

Su Lin performed a quick patrol near the entrance.

Once he was certain no immediate threats were lurking, he retreated back inside.

The external environment was too punishing, and the cold drained his physical stamina far too quickly.

Back inside, he saw Wolf Sister was still lost in sleep. The little lone wolf and the grey-white cub were also slumbering deeply in a far corner.

The little lone wolf had used the grey-white cub as a pillow, looking quite cozy.

“He certainly knows how to live comfortably.”

Su Lin felt a flicker of amusement at the sight.

Only Cousin remained awake, standing guard over the entrance.

As the former leader of the cubs, she clearly took her responsibilities seriously.

Su Lin emitted a low howl to signal that he would take over the watch.

“Awooo.”

Cousin replied with a short howl, relaying the status of the watch before heading off to rest.

She no longer viewed Su Lin as just another sibling.

Instead, she had begun to treat him with the respect due to a Lead Wolf, similar to how she treated Wolf Dad.

Su Lin was now the one hunting and providing for the group.

In the wild, the hierarchy is dictated by simple, raw laws.

Because Su Lin secured the food, he was naturally accepted as their superior.

In Cousin's mind, the Wolf Clan always followed the strongest among them.

Su Lin was now the undisputed master of the cubs.

....

The night passed by without any trouble.

Since he had rested during the afternoon, Su Lin remained alert throughout the dark hours.

He watched as the blizzard outside grew into a violent gale.

Various Arctic creatures were desperately seeking cover from the sudden onslaught.

An Arctic Tern, perhaps blinded by the snow or lost in the wind, fluttered toward the mouth of the cave.

It even attempted to fly inside to escape the freezing storm.

Su Lin’s instincts flared instantly.

With his enhanced Speed, he launched himself into the air, his white form cutting a graceful arc through the darkness.

With a single, swift strike, he swatted the bird down.

The Arctic Tern was a striking creature, possessing a black-capped head, white plumage, and a vibrant red beak.

Su Lin recalled that this species held a world record.

It is the premier long-distance migrator on the planet.

The bird covers nearly 40,000 kilometers annually, traveling from the Arctic to the Antarctic and back.

Furthermore, it is recognized as one of the most ancient bird species still in existence.

If Su Lin were still human, he would have examined such a specimen with great curiosity.

As a former student of Archaeology, ancient biological lineages fascinated him.

However, as a wolf, Su Lin barely gave the bird a second look after killing it.

He roughly stripped the feathers and began to eat.

In his role as the Lead Wolf, he had no room for sentimentality regarding endangered or ancient species.

“Ding! Host has consumed an Arctic Tern, gaining 1.5 Evolution Points.”

“Ding! Host has consumed an Arctic Tern, gaining 1.3 Evolution Points.”

The small bird provided less than three Evolution Points in total.

It was a minor, unexpected reward for his night-long vigil.

As Su Lin let out a yawn, the first faint light of dawn appeared.

Cousin, Wolf Sister, the little lone wolf, and the grey-white cub all stirred awake.

To pass the time, they began to play-fight.

Following Su Lin’s previous warnings, the little lone wolf no longer dared to bother Wolf Sister.

Instead, it focused its energy on the grey-white cub.

The poor grey-white wolf, having served as a pillow all night, was now being used as a wrestling partner.

Wolf Sister played with Cousin instead.

Every so often, she would bounce over to Su Lin, attempting to engage her much larger brother in her games.

Su Lin remained sprawled on his rock, eyes half-closed and indifferent.

He showed no interest in her playful pestering.

With the mind of a human, he couldn't find any joy in the simplistic, childish games of the Wolf Clan cubs.

Before long, Su Lin felt the pangs of hunger.

He signaled for the cubs to gather for a meal.

He refrained from eating the Arctic reindeer meat, even though it was more flavorful.

Consuming the lynx carcass was a priority, as it offered a significant amount of Evolution Points.

“Ding! Host has consumed a Lynx, gaining 2 Evolution Points.”

“Ding! Host has consumed a Lynx, gaining 1.8 Evolution Points.”

“Ding! Host has consumed a Lynx, gaining 1.6 Evolution Points.”
