Cultivation is just so scientific! Chapter 1426: 759: Hell_2
Previously on Cultivation is just so scientific!...
Master Wu Ge serves as the Great Cultivator representing the Sword Intent Chongxiao Pavilion on Hell Island. Due to the increasing instability of the Hell Cave Heaven space in recent years, every superpower from the Central State Continent has stationed a Great Cultivator at this location.
“Li Yuanba pays respect to Master Wu!” Li Yuanba said, offering a formal bow.
Great Venerable Hongfa followed behind him in silence, his quiet demeanor clearly signaling his subordinate status to the young man.
Master Wu Ge felt a flicker of amazement. Even though rumors of Li Yuanba taking Great Venerable Hongfa as a servant had reached his ears, witnessing the reality was a different matter entirely.
It was evident that Great Venerable Hongfa did not behave like a prisoner in chains; rather, he possessed the air of a genuine follower.
“Great Venerable Hongfa, it is best if you remain silent once we are on the island. Should the need arise, communicate via sound transmission. There is no need for you to concern yourself with others!” Master Wu Ge cautioned.
He guided Li Yuanba and Great Venerable Hongfa down toward Hell Island. As they breached the formation shield, the environment underwent a startling transformation.
From a distance, Hell Island appeared to be merely a medium-sized landmass, but upon landing, one could see an endless expanse of land connected to its side.
Currently, several Great Cultivators and a multitude of Nascent Soul Middle Stage practitioners were engaged in fierce combat at the junction where the two lands met.
Protected by powerful formations, these cultivators were spared from direct melee combat with the Hell creatures. Instead, they were able to focus entirely on unleashing their most devastating attacks from behind the safety of the barrier.
This was the first time Li Yuanba had laid eyes on the Hell creatures he had heard so much about. Their appearances were chaotic; some possessed the heads of bulls, others sheep, horses, or deer. Despite these varied features, they shared a singular trait: human-like torsos ending in hoofed feet.
“Do not be deceived by their current stability; we are burning through the formation’s energy reserves. If the consumption becomes excessive, even the great formation protecting Hell Cave Heaven will suffer!” Master Wu Ge remarked, gesturing toward the battlefield.
The barrier was designed to withstand the onslaught of Four-grade Mid-stage Hell Life. When Li Yuanba first saw it, he had already begun scrutinizing it with his ‘Divine Eye’.
He observed that the formation linked the entirety of Hell Island to the outer defensive array. Hearing Master Wu Ge’s explanation, he finally grasped the severity of the situation.
The Array Master responsible for Hell Island’s defenses was surely a genius. They had designed a system that encircled Hell Cave Heaven, siphoning energy from it to power the very formation that contained it.
Furthermore, the formation was rigged to funnel any Hell creatures that slipped through Hell Cave Heaven into the specific zone connected to Hell Island, making it much easier for the cultivators to maintain a defense.
As long as the great formation on Hell Island held firm, guarding this single bottleneck would prevent the Hell creatures from invading the world outside.
However, the energy of the Hell Island great formation was being drained. Should the depletion reach a breaking point, the formation would fail, and without restraint, the Hell creatures would flood out of Hell Cave Heaven and vanish into the surrounding seas.
If these monsters reached the open ocean, tracking and exterminating them would be nearly impossible, as there were simply not enough cultivators to police the vast waters.
“Enough of that for now, follow me!” Master Wu Ge said, patting his head as he recalled that Li Yuanba had arrived ahead of schedule.
Hell Island was split into two distinct sectors. The first seemed to be a residence for ordinary cultivators—a primitive place consisting mostly of caves carved haphazardly into the rock.
This sector faced the breach between Hell Cave Heaven and Hell Island, meaning those living there had to fight the Hell creatures constantly just to stay alive.
The rear sector was entirely different, isolated from the front by a series of formation barriers.
This area was meticulously designed, featuring elegant ponds, bridges, pavilions, lush gardens, and ancient trees.
The moment Li Yuanba stepped into this back area, he felt a surge of incredibly dense spiritual energy.
Were it not for the faint, lingering radiation, this environment would rival the mountain gates of any superpower for Cultivation.
Yet, as he stood there, he realized that every inch of the beautiful landscape was tainted by that same radiation.
“This is my grotto; the formation shall be placed here!” Master Wu Ge led them to his residence and pointed to a clearing near the entrance.
The open ground was shielded by the grotto’s own formation. Li Yuanba noticed the area had been recently cleared; the soil beneath was high-quality spirit soil.
It appeared Master Wu Ge had sacrificed a spirit field to make room for the new array.
Li Yuanba gave a nod to Great Venerable Hongfa, who immediately set to work.
Great Venerable Hongfa was a veteran at constructing the Space Acceptance Array, having spent the last two years traveling across various continents specifically to deploy them.
“Amitabha!” A Buddhist chant resonated as Li Yuanba spotted a Great Venerable standing just outside the boundary of the grotto’s formation, hands pressed together in a prayerful greeting.
“Hongguang, this does not concern you; we are occupied!” Master Wu Ge said with a dismissive wave of his hand.
“Hongfa, a long time has passed. Do you no longer recognize me?” Venerable Hongguang asked, ignoring Master Wu Ge to address the busy Great Venerable Hongfa.
Great Venerable Hongfa paused for only a split second before returning to his work. He did not look up, refusing to even acknowledge Venerable Hongguang with a glance.
“Hongguang, are you intending to violate the pact?” Master Wu Ge’s eyes sharpened with a dangerous light as he spoke in a low, threatening tone.
“Master Wu, you overthink things. This agreement was forged by the two masters; I would not dream of defying it. I was merely struck by a moment of sentiment upon seeing an old friend!” Venerable Hongguang replied with a smile, backing down to avoid a confrontation.
He cast a long, calculating look at Great Venerable Hongfa, focusing particularly on the array being built.
The Space Acceptance Array was now famous throughout the Cultivation world, and it was now confirmed that Great Venerable Hongfa was the one installing it.
Although the Sword Intent Chongxiao Pavilion claimed Li Yuanba was the inventor, as a Great Venerable of the Da Leiyin Temple, Hongguang knew the depth of the spatial research his own temple had conducted for centuries.
He found it impossible to believe that a youth like Li Yuanba could outshine the collective wisdom of the Da Leiyin Temple’s Space Venerables.
In his mind, it was far more likely that Great Venerable Hongfa had achieved a breakthrough in spatial laws, resulting in the impressive range of this new Space Acceptance Array.
His goal was to coax Great Venerable Hongfa back, thereby returning the secrets of the array to the Da Leiyin Temple.
Unfortunately, Great Venerable Hongfa’s refusal to even make eye contact made it clear he would not be easily persuaded.
Without a way to probe Hongfa’s thoughts, Hongguang had no leverage.
“So you are Li Yuanba. Even in this place, your name is well-known!” Venerable Hongguang said, shifting his attention to the young man with a mild tone.
His voice was soft, but Li Yuanba could easily sense the underlying venom in his words.
“I greet Great Venerable Hongguang!” Li Yuanba replied with a smile and a bow, showing no signs of intimidation.
Venerable Hongguang’s power seemed unremarkable to him. While he didn’t know the man’s specific techniques, the aura he projected didn’t feel like a threat to Li Yuanba.
Of course, that assessment assumed Li Yuanba would use every trick in his arsenal without holding back.
Otherwise, Li Yuanba would likely have to rely on his speed to escape, as this Great Venerable was far too strong for Great Venerable Hongfa to suppress with ‘Chaos Sword Intent’ alone.
Even so, Li Yuanba did not view Hongguang with much gravity.
“The number one person of the Nascent Soul Middle Stage... we shall see how you fare against the horrors of Hell Cave Heaven. I trust you won’t be a disappointment!” Venerable Hongguang said, his face masked by a false smile.
