This was the first time Master Lou had actually met the monk, though he had heard many stories about him.

Under normal circumstances, the powerful cultivators of the great superpowers would have crossed paths or communicated with one another over the centuries.

However, Great Venerable Hongfa was an exception; he rarely engaged with other Sects. Because his combat strength was considered low and his life was devoted to spatial research, he was treated as a unique asset of Da Leiyin Temple rather than a typical Great Venerable.

Jian Wuwei had already briefed him on the connection between Li Yuanba and the monk. Despite his long life and vast experience, Master Lou had never heard of a Great Venerable level expert entering into a soul recognition contract—especially one so restrictive—with a mere Nascent Soul Middle Stage Practitioner.

By asking this, he was showing respect to Great Venerable Hongfa while trying to gauge the true nature of their bond.

"As a servant, it is only right that I live within my master’s grotto heaven to be available for service at any time," Great Venerable Hongfa answered directly, his voice calm as he saw through Master Lou’s probing.

Had he been among peers or acquaintances, he might have tried to save face, but he knew no one outside of Da Leiyin Temple.

Furthermore, he was genuinely impressed by Li Yuanba’s prowess in battle and spatial knowledge. He believed in Li Yuanba’s destiny, and thus, he could accept his new status with grace.

Master Lou, however, was struck dumb by the monk’s bluntness and stood frozen for a moment.

Even with the prior warning from Jian Wuwei, hearing the confirmation directly from the mouth of Great Venerable Hongfa left him in a state of shock.

"As you command, Sword Elder!" Master Lou bowed deeply in response.
