Chaotic Sword God Chapter 3936: Confronting the Seventh Heavenly Layer
Previously on Chaotic Sword God...
Lan Caidie refrained from pursuing Jian Chen. Remaining motionless, she gazed toward the horizon where he had disappeared. While she felt a deep sense of unease, a heavy grimness outweighed all other emotions.
“The situation is dire,” Lan Caidie mused silently.
She was intimately aware of the terror a late Immortal Exalt could unleash. Against such a powerhouse, Jian Chen’s Divine Formation of the Heavens would be practically useless, as its power was nowhere near enough to wound an entity of that caliber.
Regarding his god artifact, its true potential remained a mystery to her. However, Lan Caidie had already concluded it must be damaged or severely depleted. Her reasoning was simple: even while being hunted by numerous Immortal Exalts, Jian Chen had not utilized it for protection despite its existence being common knowledge.
A sovereign god artifact in such a weakened state could not repel a late Immortal Exalt unless it was wielded by an equally formidable master.
“He is in grave danger,” she thought, feeling a profound sense of helplessness.
“Wait!” Suddenly, a spark of hope lit up Lan Caidie’s eyes. She recalled the overwhelming power radiating from the ancient sword during her last encounter with Xing Caijian.
Though the sword’s origin was a mystery and it emitted no detectable Qi, the Remains of the Ghost Immortal residing within her soul had shivered in its presence.
With this thought, Lan Caidie instinctively looked toward the sky, her eyes filled with desperation. Unfortunately, she had no way to contact Xing Caijian at this moment; reaching her was impossible.
“If only she were here...” she lamented.
......
…
Utilizing the Laws of Space, Jian Chen fled at high speed. As he moved, he retrieved several God Tier pills from his Space Ring and swallowed them. His recovery was agonizingly sluggish. In fact, the strain of traveling at such velocity threatened to tear his wounds open even further.
By now, his presence had grown faint, and his life force flickered like a dying candle. It was only the inherent resilience of his Chaotic Body that allowed him to remain conscious.
A violent coughing fit seized Jian Chen. Blood welled up in his throat, but he forced himself to swallow it back down.
His condition took a sudden turn for the worse, causing his speed to plummet. At this rate, the pursuing Immortal Exalts would be upon him in moments.
Abruptly, a chilling sense of impending doom washed over him. Jian Chen glanced to the side just as a figure shrouded in dark mist materialized without a sound. A shriveled hand reached out toward him with deceptive gentleness.
Though the hand appeared devoid of strength, the moment it moved, the surrounding laws tightened. High-level laws struck Jian Chen with merciless, cataclysmic force.
This strike relied not on raw cultivation energy, but on the pure power of the laws themselves.
Jian Chen spat out a mist of blood. These destructive laws bypassed the protections of the Divine Armour of Heavenflight, striking his physical form directly.
The Chaotic Body, which Jian Chen usually relied upon for its sturdiness, felt fragile against such might. His flesh and internal organs began to disintegrate into fragments.
The assailant was the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy from the Divine Sect of Ancient Souls. After trailing Jian Chen in secret, he had finally struck in this isolated location.
He showed no restraint, unleashing the full might of a Seventh Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt from the very first blow. His goal was an instant kill.
“If your soul cannot be easily extinguished, then I shall end you by shattering your physical vessel,” the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy remarked with a faint smile, currently possessing the body of the Soul Guarding Ancestor. While losing the Soul Guarding Ancestor would weaken his sect, the acquisition of a sovereign god artifact would more than compensate for the loss.
“Everything is proceeding as planned,” he thought, feeling satisfied. Though killing Jian Chen was proving more difficult than anticipated, the end was in sight.
Once the sovereign god artifact was his, he intended to sacrifice two other Immortal Exalts to fuel the ritual that would return his soul and the prize to the Divine Sect of Ancient Souls. The transition would be undetectable.
The unique environment of the Skyscraping World, combined with his careful concealment, ensured that even a Heavenly Emperor would find no evidence of his deeds here.
However, his smile soon faltered as his eyes narrowed into sharp, terrifying slits.
Before him, Jian Chen’s shattered body began to undergo a miraculous transformation. His wounds started closing at an incredible speed. Even the damage inflicted by a Seventh Heavenly Layer expert could not halt Jian Chen’s unnatural rate of regeneration.
“You’ve finally revealed yourself. A Seventh Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt... I never suspected such a powerhouse was lurking within the Skyscraping World. But I am curious—the treasures here shouldn't interest a late-stage Immortal Exalt. You’ve hidden your motives for so long, even feigning injury when my formation struck you. You are clearly terrified of being discovered. What is your true purpose here?” Jian Chen questioned, his eyes locked onto the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy in a state of high alert.
Jian Chen remembered this man. During the first confrontation when the Divine Formation of the Heavens was unleashed, this individual had been tossed aside by the shockwave like everyone else.
Even on the stone stairs leading to the summit, he had acted as though he were repulsed by the formation’s energy.
For a peak expert of the Seventh Heavenly Layer to put on such a convincing performance simply to mask his strength was baffling.
What was the motive? Who could have stopped him even if he had shown his true power?
Jian Chen’s heart raced. He thought of Xing Caijian, the daughter of the Heavenly Emperor.
“Is he hiding from her?” Jian Chen speculated. It was the only logical conclusion.
The Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy offered no reply. Instead, he pointed a single finger at Jian Chen. He utilized no energy—only the laws.
As the finger extended, Jian Chen felt the world fall into an eerie silence. The surrounding laws were warped; it felt as though time and space had frozen solid. That single finger seemed to encompass the entire universe.
The Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy was no longer holding back, employing a secret technique of immense power.
The finger tapped the Divine Armour of Heavenflight softly. Yet, the devastating force surged straight through the armor, ignoring its defenses entirely to explode within Jian Chen’s body.
