Bringing The Farm To Live In Another World Chapter 2264: Fighting One After Another
Previously on Bringing The Farm To Live In Another World...
Upon reaching the floor of Gale Canyon, Zhao Hai paused in surprise. The bottom was completely devoid of vegetation, consisting only of sand and rock. Strangely, these stones and grains of sand emitted a soft white luminescence that provided light to the entire valley.
As Zhao Hai scanned the area, he noticed a few small trees that appeared to be in a state between life and death. He collected samples of the soil and stone to be processed by the Space's analysis functions. The results showed nothing extraordinary; the glow was simply caused by a few unique minerals.
After gathering his samples, Zhao Hai surveyed the landscape. He could sense that flora once thrived here, but the terrain had been flattened by the scars of endless combat.
A bitter smile touched Zhao Hai’s lips. It was no wonder humanity was often likened to a virus, considering their capacity for destruction was just as devastating.
Confirming he was alone, Zhao Hai pressed onward. The light intensified the further he traveled. Due to the immense width of the canyon, the towering cliffs could not obstruct the sun's rays, and greenery gradually began to reappear.
However, Zhao Hai soon noticed white bones scattered along his path. While some belonged to beasts, many were clearly human remains. His expression darkened at the sight. The sheer volume of skeletons suggested that this canyon was nothing more than a massive graveyard for countless cultivators.
Suddenly, the whistling of the wind changed. Zhao Hai halted as a figure appeared before him. The man was an Earth Monarch roughly in his forties, dressed entirely in black robes with matching dark hair. Even the long sword he carried was pitch black; he was a monochromatic shadow from head to toe.
The Earth Monarch appraised Zhao Hai before breaking into a sudden grin. “I never expected a Soul Fusion Cultivator to wander into Gale Canyon. Your courage is impressive, but it works in my favor. I didn't think I'd get this lucky today. Kid, hand over your storage equipment and I’ll let you live.”
Zhao Hai met the man's gaze calmly and replied, “If I kill you, your belongings will become mine anyway.”
The black-robed man burst into laughter. “Excellent! This is the first time a Soul Fusion brat has dared to speak to me like that. I’m going to sever your limbs and dump you into an ant’s nest for that.” With those words, he unsheathed his black blade, immediately sending a sword shadow flying toward Zhao Hai.
Zhao Hai reached for the weapon on his back, his eyes fixed warily on his opponent. Seeing this, the black-robed man sneered inwardly. He increased his speed, unleashing a flurry of sword shadows. The blade was a matte black that reflected no light, filling the air with so many illusions that it was impossible to distinguish the real strike from the fakes.
Zhao Hai watched coldly as the distance between them closed. He realized the man was trying to overwhelm his senses with the multitude of sword shadows.
Yet, the enemy had completely misjudged Zhao Hai’s true power. The Earth Monarch lunged forward eagerly, already imagining his blade piercing through Zhao Hai’s neck.
A flash of cold light erupted. The arrogant smirk on the man's face froze, replaced instantly by a look of sheer terror. He tried to look down to see why his throat felt cold and painful, but his eyes rolled back as he slipped into darkness.
A fresh corpse now lay at Zhao Hai’s feet. Without wasting a moment, Zhao Hai flicked his hand, sending the fallen cultivator into the Space to be transformed into an undead servant.
Continuing his journey, Zhao Hai found the canyon opening up further. The density of trees and plants increased, though they were mostly common species of little value.
As he moved, the echoes of a distant struggle reached his ears. Though he took note of it, he wasn't overly concerned. He kept walking until, less than a hundred meters away, a blood-curdling scream rang out. Zhao Hai knit his brows and moved toward the source.
After another two hundred meters, voices drifted toward him. One man laughed loudly, saying, “Hahaha! Perfect! That’s the fifth one today. We’re going to make a fortune!”
“Big Brother, we should have hit Gale Canyon sooner,” another voice added. “A single year’s harvest here is worth three years elsewhere. A few more successful hunts and we can finally afford those high-grade pills.”
“Hold on, someone’s approaching. It’s just a Soul Fusion brat. Hahaha! Another fat sheep! What a lucky day!” As the voice spoke, Zhao Hai sensed Qi fluctuations surrounding him. Five figures quickly hemmed him in.
Zhao Hai stared at the group. All five were body cultivators standing nearly two meters tall. Every one of them was an Earth Monarch, and they carried unusual weapons—a total of ten heavy hammers between them.
Drawing his blade, Zhao Hai looked at them and asked, “Why are you obstructing my path?”
“Hahaha! Kid, you’ve got a lot of nerve coming here with only Soul Fusion Stage cultivation. You’re incredibly dim-witted, but you’ve certainly made this grandpa’s day. Surrender your storage equipment and I might let you breathe. If not, don't blame me for being ruthless.”
Zhao Hai swept his gaze over the five men and suddenly barked, “Kill!” He lunged at one of them with his blade. Caught off guard by the youth attacking first, the man facing Zhao Hai stared in shock for a split second before retreating hastily. He raised his hammer to intercept Zhao Hai’s strike.
Though momentarily stunned, the other four recovered quickly and swung their hammers at Zhao Hai from all sides.
They soon realized, however, that pinning Zhao Hai down was impossible. His movement technique made him as elusive as a ghost. No matter how they swung, Zhao Hai evaded them with ease, often leading them to nearly strike their own comrade whom Zhao Hai was relentlessly pursuing.
Frustrated by their inability to land a hit, the five men suddenly realized they were the ones being pressured by Zhao Hai’s blade. Instead of them surrounding him, it felt as though Zhao Hai was surrounding all of them.
Enraged, one of them bellowed, “If we don’t get serious, we’ll be a laughingstock! Big Brother, let’s do it!”
“Fine! Five Thunder Formation!” At the leader's command, the five shifted their rhythm. They began a strange footwork pattern while rotating their hammers in wide arcs. To Zhao Hai’s surprise, the movement generated the literal roar of wind and thunder. Recognizing it as a combat formation, Zhao Hai didn't dare be careless; he accelerated his pace and intensified his assault.
Suddenly, the man in the center of the formation erupted with a brilliant purple glow. A bolt of purple lightning shot directly at Zhao Hai.
Zhao Hai stared at the incoming bolt, sensing the massive power contained within it. The 'Big Brother' laughed mockingly, “Kid, our Five Thunder Formation generates tribulation lightning! Let's see you dodge this!”
Zhao Hai moved, but not to retreat. He charged straight into the lightning. As the bolt struck his body, the five attackers grinned, expecting him to be reduced to a pile of ash. Instead, the lightning simply vanished into Zhao Hai’s body without causing any harm.
The group was paralyzed with shock. Zhao Hai used that opening to rush in and strike. Once the first man fell, the Five Thunder Formation collapsed. Only when the electric aura faded did the remaining four snap out of their daze.
“Fourth Brother!” they screamed, looking at their fallen comrade. They turned back to Zhao Hai with murderous intent and attacked simultaneously.
Zhao Hai shifted his weight to dodge the flurry of blows. He whispered under his breath, “Heavenly Demon Seven Killing Blades, Behead!” At his command, his blade radiated a blinding white light. Before the four could even blink, Zhao Hai had already passed through the center of their group.
As he stood behind them, Zhao Hai calmly sheathed his weapon. The four cultivators didn't even have time to register what had happened before they collapsed, dead.
The Heavenly Demon Seven Killing Blades was a high-level technique Zhao Hai had learned from the Heavenly Demon Race. Its destructive power was immense, though it was originally designed for aerial combat. Since flight was restricted in the True Spirit Realm, Zhao Hai had adapted the style for ground use.
His time in the True Spirit Realm had deepened his understanding of the Dao, which now flowed seamlessly into his martial arts. Furthermore, his progress with the Stellar Transformations Yin Yang Art had significantly boosted the lethality of the Seven Killing Blades.
Zhao Hai hadn't even used his full power. During this skirmish, he had only tapped into a tenth of his spiritual Qi. His goal in Gale Canyon was to refine his techniques to match the environment of the True Spirit Realm. By intentionally suppressing his strength, he could test how his standard Qi output performed alongside his modified techniques. This was the true intent behind his trial.
