Beast Taming Patrol Chapter 7: Chapter 2 Different Destinies (Seeking Investment and Followers)_3
Previously on Beast Taming Patrol...
Given the circumstances, only the veteran generation of Beast Tamers could maintain the front lines for a time. Meanwhile, others collaborated to forge entirely different avenues toward power. A segment of the human population suggested discarding the Beast Tamer vocation altogether, eventually uncovering the path of martial arts after enduring immense struggles.
Martial arts offer an alternative destiny for humanity under the influence of Ghost Energy Stones. In this discipline, humans bolster their physical forms by hunting Alien Beasts and utilizing their harvested remains. The rise of martial arts allowed human elites to vanquish Alien Beasts through personal prowess, rather than directing Alien Beasts in combat.
Furthermore, this path stands in direct opposition to that of the Beast Tamers.
The second stage of martial arts is known as the Meridian Opening Realm. To channel the martial energy called "Yuan Force," one must unlock specific Meridians within the body. However, the process of opening these Meridians necessitates tapping into the energy of one's Beast Taming Space.
As more Meridians are unlocked, the Beast Taming Space undergoes irreversible degradation until it vanishes entirely. Consequently, it becomes impossible to remain a Beast Tamer.
Once a Beast Taming Space advances to the second order, its structure becomes too stable for its power to be siphoned for Meridian opening. Because of this, Beast Tamers who dabble in martial arts are restricted to the first realm, the Body Refining Realm.
While the newer generation of Beast Tamers saw their influence wane, martial arts experienced a swift ascent. Once several martial artists emerged who could go toe-to-toe with Immortal Rank Alien Beasts, the tide of conflict shifted. Humanity began a massive crackdown on the Alien Beasts, ultimately securing a total victory.
Pressured by human martial artists, the Immortal Rank Alien Beasts were compelled to rescind the Alien Beast Ban. Following this repeal, the Beast Tamer lineage saw a resurgence, allowing for the deep study of evolution and cultivation techniques. Under the protection of martial artists, they evolved over a millennium into their current state.
In the present Divine Martial World, human cultivation is split between Beast Tamers and martial artists. Since martial artists of equivalent rank can easily overwhelm Beast Tamers, the latter have gradually transitioned into a supporting role.
For instance, Doctor Ye functions as a Beast Tamer by contracting various healing-type pets to provide medical care.
The core issue is the inherent vulnerability of Beast Tamers. When engaging a martial artist, the opponent often ignores the pet's strikes and targets the Beast Tamer directly, ending the fight in an instant.
Beast Tamers back on Blue Star faced this same vulnerability, yet it was solved decades ago by Qin Yunzhang, the Yanhuang Alliance's lead scientist, who invented Guardian Beast Co-operation. Such technology, however, does not exist in the Divine Martial World.
Since Guardian Beast Co-operation is a skill only taught at the Beast Tamer University level, Lin Su felt a pang of disappointment.
If he could recreate Guardian Beast Co-operation here, it would serve as his ultimate Golden Finger in this new world.
Azura had informed him that his predecessor had fallen into the backyard pond while intoxicated and was nearly breathless when found. Although high-grade medicines had preserved his life, his physical condition remained extremely frail.
Shortly after regaining consciousness, Lin Su felt a wave of exhaustion washing over him; reclining slightly seemed to ease the discomfort.
Given his current physical state, contracting a beast immediately was out of the question; he required more time to recover.
After consuming the tonic, a soothing warmth spread through Lin Su, reminiscent of a soak in a hot spring. Soon, a heavy drowsiness pulled at his consciousness.
He drifted back into sleep.
"Ding Ling Ling~"
The familiar chime of an alarm echoed. Lin Su reached out instinctively to silence the communication device acting as an alarm clock on his nightstand.
Wait, a communication device?
His arm stopped dead in the air, and he bolted his eyes open.
Didn't I... transmigrate?
