With a face devoid of emotion, he casually asked another question, "Senior, are you aware of their reasons for coming here?"
"I have no knowledge of that." The expert from the Emperor Martial Palace gave a shrug before turning to walk away. "Well, if you have no further questions, I shall take my leave now."
Having obtained the information he needed, Lin Su ignored the departing man. His focus was entirely on the path where the others had fled.
"Gui Gui."
"I understand!" The void around them shuddered slightly. Concealed within the ripples of space, Gui Gui wrapped around Lin Su, and they vanished instantly, surging forward to pursue the group.
...
"Boom!"
A catastrophic blast thundered across the heavens of the Endless Sea.
Following this deafening explosion, the faint sound of a desperate, roaring cry nearly reached the ears of any observers. At that moment, the fabric of space itself began to fracture, showing cracks like a spider's web.
Violent and chaotic spatial energies twisted the surrounding area. Even the massive Sea Breaking Barrier appeared to tremble briefly under the weight of such terrifying power.
The island situated at the epicenter of the conflict was utterly destroyed, replaced by a massive, gaping crater. Seawater rushed in to form a colossal whirlpool as it filled the void, though the towering, monstrous waves took a long time to settle.
Hovering in the void, a flicker of irritation crossed the Time Master’s face.
"Incompetent!"
At that low shout, the immortals standing behind it bowed their heads in shame. Though led by a Ninth Realm powerhouse and supported by three Eighth Realm and several Seventh Realm immortals, they had failed to capture a single Eighth Realm target. Not only did their prey escape, but several of their own immortals had been slain.
After venting its anger, the Time Master’s expression returned to its usual icy detachment. It scanned the horizon calmly, as if locking eyes with the hidden observers watching from the depths of the Endless Sea.
"This shall be the fate of anyone who dares to defy my will."
The freezing voice resonated immediately across the entire Endless Sea. Under this overwhelming pressure, the turbulent waves and storms of the sea went still for a heartbeat.
With its display of intimidation finished, the Time Master turned its gaze toward the West Profound Domain. Although it had failed to find the rumored pure water essence or the time-path strange beast that had been spying on it, its primary goal had been met.
During the recent battle, the Time Master felt a gaze from the West Profound Domain watching from afar. But it was nothing more than a look. A hint of human-like disdain appeared on its face.
Two centuries ago, that old relic could still use his momentum to threaten me from a distance. Now, two hundred years later, that man has only grown more decrepit. Upon reaching the Ninth Realm, the Time Master finally understood why the Martial Emperor was so desperately clinging to life.
It had sensed a level of power that existed beyond the Ninth Realm—a completely new stage beyond immortality itself. However, that realm appeared to be bound by an incredibly sturdy shackle. Neither those in the Martial Domain Realm nor those at the immortal levels could break through it.
One day, those chains would be shattered. Yet, the Time Master could not predict when that day would arrive. The Martial Emperor was simply waiting for the moment those shackles broke. Does a pile of old bones on the brink of the grave still desire a realm beyond the Martial Domain?
Then I shall wake you up! I have the luxury of time, but you are running out of it!
"The creatures of the Endless Sea are now suppressed and compliant; our rear is secure." The Time Master slowly looked over the immortals following it. "Deliver my command..."
"Assemble the legions and gather our strength!"
"In fifteen days, our first strike will be to seize the West Profound Domain!"
"As you command!" The faces of the immortals glowed with fanatical excitement.
The West Profound Domain! It was the major domain closest to the Southern Wilderness Domain. It had played a vital role in the past slaughter of the strange beasts and served as the Martial Emperor's place of inheritance. It was only fitting that it be the first target for the strange beasts' vengeance.
...
"Ka—"
A sharp spatial crack echoed above the Immortal Phoenix Sect. Inside the Sect Master Hall, Ji Qinghuan stared at the figure before her. His aura was so diminished that he seemed on the verge of falling out of the immortal realm. Her eyes narrowed as she rushed to his side.
"Rong Zun?!"
Multiple immortal auras flared up at that moment, thick with tension and fury. They looked upon the lethally wounded Rong Zun with faces full of helplessness. In their memory, this was the first time that Rong Zun, a pillar of the Immortal Phoenix Sect, had ever been so badly hurt.
Had he not gone to the Endless Sea to search for Lin Su? How could he have ended up like this? What had transpired?
At this moment, Ji Qinghuan and the other immortals of the sect were filled with a sense of unprecedented dread.
"Hah..." Rong Zun let out a ragged breath and spoke with a weak voice, "Do not fret. I am heavily injured, but I will not perish. I have located Lin Su."
"However, I was unable to bring him back with me." Rong Zun hesitated briefly, noticing the change in Ji Qinghuan’s expression. "He should be out of danger, though he has traveled to the West Profound Domain for now."
"His life lamp remains burning and stable," Ji Qinghuan noted with a slight nod. Knowing her disciple’s location caused her anxiety for Lin Su to fade slightly. Since he was in the West Profound Domain, he would surely find a path home; she could leave him be for the time being. The most pressing issue now was something else.
"Rong Zun, who was it that inflicted such wounds upon you?"
The other immortals listened intently, their eyes fixed on Rong Zun. It was well known that before departing from the Immortal Phoenix Sect, Rong Zun had already reached the Eighth Realm and stabilized his Cultivation. With his mastery over the space system, he was a formidable power even among those of the same rank.
Yet here he was, so broken that he had nearly lost his immortality. For an immortal, such a state meant they were down to their final breath. Just who was the adversary, and how great was their power?
