“Crack… crack…”
Drawn by a sequence of sharp, snapping noises, Lin Su and the five creatures standing outside the glowing cocoon lost track of time as they waited.
Expectation filled their expressions as they turned their eyes toward the light cocoon simultaneously.
The turbulent energy within the cocoon had finally settled, signaling that Tata’s metamorphosis was likely complete.
None of them could predict what form Tata would take now.
As they watched with bated breath, fractures began to spiderweb across the surface of the glowing shell.
Then, accompanied by a distinct shattering sound, the transformed Tata suddenly poked its head out from the ruins of the cocoon.
It scanned its surroundings with a look of bewilderment, only breaking into a joyful expression upon spotting Lin Su and its five companions as it fully emerged.
Lin Su and the five little creatures froze, stunned by the sight of Tata’s new appearance.
Once small enough for Lin Su to cradle in one hand, Tata had grown significantly, now matching the size of Youyou and Lanlan. Its fur now displayed distinct layers of varying lengths.
The fur on its limbs and torso—areas where strength is exerted—had become stark white and very short, while the rest of its body retained its signature pink hue. Additionally, decorative rings of patterns now adorned its arms.
Most striking, however, was the magic wand Tata gripped, which was encircled by Five-colored Stars.
The familiar aesthetic immediately reminded Lin Su and the others of the former Electric Control Mage.
Tata’s head featured a prominent “Y” shaped structure embedded with a Five-colored Gem, which was surrounded by rhythmic, pulsing halos that gave it a divine, mystical aura.
“Evolved?” Lin Su asked instinctively. “This qualifies as an evolution, doesn’t it?”
“Yes…” Tata murmured, inspecting its own body for a moment before scratching its head. “I don’t see why it wouldn’t count.”
“Power defines evolution, not just looks,” Ghost remarked with its usual calm analysis. “Since Tata has acquired a combat class, it is undeniably an evolution.”
Indeed, beyond the physical changes, Lin Su and the five creatures noticed the most significant shift immediately.
The once attribute-less creature now possessed a specific attribute.
Combat Type.
This development validated the words of the Desolate Venerate: every life form holds the potential to evolve into a combat class.
“Since it has a combat class now, do you think its talent skills have shifted?” Youyou asked, tilting its head. “What are the new abilities?”
“Well…” Tata sensed the new power flowing within and wore a conflicted expression. “I didn’t actually get more skills; I have fewer now…”
“All the skills previously awakened by the Five-colored Gem have vanished…”
“What?!”
Lin Su and the five little creatures stared in surprise.
“But I did gain five brand-new skills!” Tata clarified quickly. “And I can still perform the old Five-colored Gem skills; they’ve just been integrated into other abilities.”
“Understood.” Lin Su nodded as he processed the information. “Is Recovery Song still your core skill, then?”
“No, it changed,” Tata replied, shaking its head. “Recovery Song is now a talent skill, and a completely different ability has become the core skill.”
“It’s called Retribution.”
A brief silence followed the announcement.
Lin Su and the five creatures traded glances before turning back to Tata.
“Retribution?!”
The name sounded remarkably dark and ominous for a skill.
“Want to test how it works on me?” Ghost suggested, its interest piqued by the name.
In a flash, Ghost moved to stand directly in front of Tata.
Tata didn’t hesitate. Second Brother was incredibly powerful; a casual strike shouldn't cause any real harm.
With a light movement, Tata raised its magic wand and began a rhythmic rapping.
Ghost: “…”
Something felt strange about the sound, but before Ghost could analyze it, Tata had already launched into the fifth chapter of the Divine Court Sacrificial Song—
Tribulation Ash!
Upon reaching the emperor rank, Tata’s mastery over the chapters had expanded. It was no longer restricted to the first four; it could now invoke the fifth and sixth chapters.
The Fifth Chapter—Tribulation Ash.
The Sixth Chapter—Unyielding.
While the latter was a defensive technique with incredible properties, the former was an offensive chapter far more terrifying than Holy Judgment.
As the final note of the chant echoed, a crimson mist smothered the surrounding void for miles, accompanied by violent waves of heat radiating in every direction.
Infernal flames manifested from the void behind Tata. The heat was so intense it seemed capable of liquefying space itself, threatening to turn any living being into dust upon contact.
This devastating power was the source of the fifth chapter's name.
The terrifying fire shifted into a brilliant golden-red light, surging forward with a thunderous sonic boom and a localized firestorm. The heat was oppressive as it crashed toward Ghost!
Ghost: “!!!”
Wasn't the plan to test the core skill, Retribution?!
Facing the incinerating wall of fire, even the patterns on Ghost’s mask flickered—a sign of genuine alarm. Its body blurred as it attempted to phase into a different layer of the void.
However, Ghost was immediately forced back into the primary dimension.
The Tribulation Ash summoned by Tata’s fifth chapter was too overwhelming. These celestial flames truly held the power to dissolve the fabric of space.
The protective layers created by Ghost’s Stacking Space Rule were already showing signs of melting together under the heat.
