Apocalypse Gachapon Chapter 1949: Revolution
Previously on Apocalypse Gachapon...
The Assault Camp counted their fighters, finding forty-seven still able to engage in combat. Hearing this report, the Bronze Camp swiftly chose forty-seven members of their own.
Next, they stripped off all their gear.
"We'll remove ours as well."
Following Shi Yong's command, the Assault Camp fighters shed their equipment too.
"If they're going without gear, there's no point in us wearing any. Who are they trying to belittle?"
The Assault Camp troops responded instantly. They might afford to drop the last round, but showing any sign of weakness in resolve was unacceptable. Winning while geared up would still carry shame.
Bronze Camp members felt a spark of irritation, yet they had no power to insist the others keep their equipment on.
Preparations wrapped up fast on both sides as they moved into position. A brilliant flash appeared, and the simulator transported everyone to scattered spots.
At that moment, White Robe rose to his feet.
"Done watching?" Cheng Liujin inquired.
"Yeah, this bout's result is obvious. The Assault Camp doesn't stand a chance." White Robe cast a final glance at the glowing screen before turning and heading away.
"You certain? Gearless, their power difference shrinks. Doesn't that leave room for a shot?"
"Those troops are fueled by fierce resolve; they're set to battle to the death. Sure, the Assault Camp sent out forty-seven, but over a dozen carry wounds that hamper their fighting ability. No point in viewing a predictable clash. Better to head back and ponder the training regimen, or seek out Little Ye for tips on his methods."
As White Robe departed, Cheng Liujin kept sipping his drink while eyeing the ongoing fight. Deep down, he shared White Robe's view.
He couldn't help feeling pity for the Assault Camp. Had Ye Zhongming gotten just a bit more time, victory in all three contests would have been theirs.
The outcome unfolded exactly as the two Order Leaders foresaw, with Bronze Camp troops claiming the win.
Yet their triumph came at a steep cost. In that open battlefield setup, Assault Camp warriors caused them serious headaches. Stripped of gear, it boiled down to raw power. True, Bronze Camp fighters outmatched their foes, but the Assault Camp's 'Layered Eye' skill granted them sharp energy control, offering a real edge in resistance.
Against the top Bronze Camp soldiers excluding mid-level officers, the Assault Camp, despite ultimate loss, still took out thirty-seven enemies.
In an actual war, just ten foes would have made it out alive.
The contest wrapped up, but the whole Bronze Camp stayed hushed, neither buzzing with joy nor despair; only stillness prevailed.
Numerous eyes turned to Ye Zhongming, aware this Bronze Order Leader had words forthcoming.
"I realize plenty of you doubt my hold on this role."
Ye Zhongming's opening words drew every gaze.
"But what of it? You can't alter reality. To those who tried blocking me, I wonder if their bodies have decayed by now."
Zhong Hongke and his group traded looks. These brief lines revealed more about the new Bronze Order Leader's unyielding nature.
"From this point, obey without question." Ye Zhongming's gesture swept across all Bronze Camp warriors from one side to the other.
A frown spread among many, as the phrasing struck as overly blunt and authoritarian.
"Harsh to the ears?" Ye Zhongming let out a chilly smirk. "Does it rile you up?"
"Doesn't matter!" His tone sharpened abruptly: "My taunt rests on the solid ground of my earned glory and gains, whereas your fury and shame stem from your endless frailty."
"If not me in this seat, should a crowd of you—deemed trash by your own kin, let alone outsiders—take it?"
"And then? From least worthless to downright pathetic?"
"Yet you dare label new arrivals as trash? You're the trash, the worst waste in the whole Star-Eye Clan!"
Ye Zhongming infused his voice with mental energy, letting it echo across the drill area.
Anger colored many faces red. Even lingering Silver and Gold masked fighters creased their brows, sensing his barbs included them too.
"Still not buying it?" Ye Zhongming pressed on without pause: "Examine the Bronze Team's state now! Check the duties you handle! See, as a key force of the Star-Eye Clan, what glory have you delivered?"
This barrage of questions dimmed the rising ire in the Bronze Camp. Heads bowed for several.
Indeed, they'd contributed little to the Star-Eye Clan.
"I just rounded up over sixty willing fighters, drilled them for under ten days, and crushed your best until they crumbled. So, speak up—how do you train day to day? Is this the payoff from the clan's backing of you?"
"And you dare rally against me? Know this: even if I wrecked part of the stockpile, or all of it, that'd beat handing it over to you. At least I uncovered key insights into gear crafting. What use would you make of it?!"
Through this, Ye Zhongming clarified the warehouse incident.
"I'm here to turn things around. If you can't stand me, request transfer out. But stay, and you follow commands, train hard, pouring sweat, toil, blood, and life to regain your vanished honor!"
"Starting now, in the ten-day trials, any can opt to face the Assault Camp. Victors earn double points; losers face double penalties."
"I expect your scores to surge from this, not plummet to rock bottom, leaving you bare and downcast in defeat."
Ye Zhongming halted, then pulled gear items from his storage space.
"For today, every Bronze Camp participant gains ten points. Those who took down Assault Camp foes get ten points per kill. The forty-seven final victors each claim one gear piece."
"That's it. Disperse. Thousand-Person Leaders and Deputies, remain for discussion."
The mix of tough measures and rewards left Bronze Camp troops in a daze. Ye Zhongming then guided the Assault Camp and senior officers inside the structure.
"You all shone today; great effort from each. Thirty points added to everyone. Stick to the plan for a few more practice days. Then, fresh skills await."
As his 'personal guard,' Ye Zhongming couldn't skimp on the Assault Camp. News of upcoming lessons sparked excitement in their eyes.
They'd savored the rewards of those 'new things' this day.
Once the Assault Camp departed, Ye Zhongming ushered the twenty Thousand-Person Leaders and Deputies into a meeting hall.
"We'll cover three key issues today."
Seated at the head, Ye Zhongming dove right in, skipping any preliminaries.
"First up: revise the old gear and supply distribution rules. Going forward, beyond basic rations and meds, all else requires each Thousand-Person Team to trade with their earned points."
