Apocalypse Gachapon Chapter 1922: Bragging number 1 novice (3)

Previously on Apocalypse Gachapon...
Ye Zhongming boldly declared that Jie Su could one day lead the Su Clan, shocking Cheng Su and drawing his disdain during their tense confrontation. Unfazed, Ye Zhongming defended Jie Su's second-place ranking in the Novice battlefield, crediting not just the Silk Sea Light Array but also his courage in suppressing his strength to join, his ability to attract loyal helpers like Yisewei and the Changxu Water Race, and potential future alliances. As Cheng Su challenged these claims, Ye Zhongming highlighted Yisewei's support and began praising White Robe's hidden potential, citing his young age, impressive Furelai count, and fearless nature despite the elder's skepticism.

"By that, I mean his fearlessness toward death reveals a bold spirit for taking on challenges. And since you're an expert too, you ought to grasp that mere potential isn't sufficient for anyone; it needs to be brought to fruition. Facing the brink of life and death offers the quickest path to unlocking that potential."

This notion was undoubtedly a widely acknowledged principle. Cheng Su found himself compelled to acknowledge it as well.

White Robe had indeed honed his abilities via endless fights, ascending to a lofty rank at such a 'tender age'.

Noticing Cheng Su's facial cues, Ye Zhongming sensed that this formation specialist was partially convinced.

"Moreover, White Robe remains alive."

"This follows the same logic as my earlier comment on Jie Su surviving the Novice battlefield. White Robe acts wildly; his combat approach is fierce. If it had been another individual, death might have claimed them ages ago. Yet he persists. What does that indicate? It shows his wildness, his daring, are calculated and reined in. He commands that... exact balance!"

"Once he consistently avoids death, maybe nobody will manage to slay him ever again."

At these words, Cheng Su's eyes tightened. Yisewei and Jie Su appeared contemplative too.

Indeed, all outsiders viewed White Robe as mad, saw him battling as if life meant nothing. Yet had he perished? Never. He'd suffered grave injuries many times over, but had any left him crippled or plagued by lasting problems? None!

Without pondering it, such thoughts stayed dormant, but reflecting now unveiled how intricate their companion truly was.

Looking back on old happenings, a notion struck both Yisewei and Jie Su.

This fellow, whose battle strength presently lagged behind theirs by some margin, might actually, as Ye Zhongming suggested, arrive at a stage where killing him becomes impossible for anyone, right?

Cheng Su drew in a prolonged breath before eventually nodding and uttering, "This just about gets you through. Now share the third reason."

"Thirdly, myself!"

Had Yisewei and Jie Su been sipping water then, they would've undoubtedly sprayed it forth, aiming straight at Ye Zhongming's visage.

The discussion centered on White Robe. Why insert yourself?

For the first time, Cheng Su sensed this youth was rather amusing and skilled at boasting about his own merits.

Yet shortly after, he discovered boasting could reach entirely new heights.

"I'm even more youthful. My present Furelai... well, hasn't been assessed. Still, judging from combat encounters, it likely falls between 1,500 and 1,700. When I hit White Robe's age, I figure it'll reach thirty thousand."

Everyone present, barring Cheng Su, simultaneously pressed hands to their brows.

Alright, even if White Robe wasn't the ultimate prodigy, he was still a talent. So diligent, so relentless, and merely around 17,000 Furelai at this stage. Even if understated a bit, it wouldn't top 20,000. But you claim 30,000 outright? Yisewei, a favored child of heaven, trained from youth and still fairly young, what was her Furelai level?

"I realize none of you buy it, much like how, prior to the Novice battlefield, nobody trusted I'd claim first."

This remark caused those silently deeming Ye Zhongming's claims absurd in their minds to halt abruptly.

Correct, the individual facing them was the Novice champion. Who could've foreseen that? Not only did he secure the top spot for himself, his score was so immense it propelled the Star-Eye Clan to overall victory too!

With feats like defying the odds, it didn't seem off for him to assert surpassing White Robe down the line.

After all, White Robe had never snagged Novice first place.

"I owe White Robe a favor, owe Yisewei one, and owe Jie Su one too." Ye Zhongming gestured dismissively. "I'm the type who always settles debts, repaying them to the fullest extent I can."

"Plus, from this Novice battlefield, I see Jie Su as exceptional. I regard him as a companion. And with my companions, I've always been generous."

Were a compatriot present now, they'd surely note Ye Zhongming's lines mirrored those cocky protagonists from films.

"Forget if you're fit to be Jie Su's companion—even if you are, does that qualify Jie Su to vie for the Su Clan's highest seat?" Cheng Su hadn't fully endorsed Ye Zhongming's prior breakdown, though he'd accepted portions. But these bold declarations reignited his prior ire toward this youth.

"Absolutely!" Ye Zhongming delivered a friend-repelling retort; his face held that confident, cocky demeanor.

"If I claimed Novice first, I'll seize other top spots. I'll join White Robe in guiding the Star-Eye Clan to resurgence, emerging as a fresh powerhouse among cosmic peoples. Then, we'll fully back Jie Su in claiming that role."

Cheng Su rose, gazed intently at Ye Zhongming, and as he departed, declared, "In that case, I'll await that moment."

………………

The Su Clan members departed the Star-Eye Clan base. It appeared no more dealings would occur between them before the base shut down.

Yisewei and Ye Zhongming lingered outdoors, observing the bustling traffic within the camp.

Rankings were finalized. All awaited the ultimate prize distribution.

"Was that your way of settling the favor with Jie Su?"

Yisewei hadn't held high regard for this Star-Eye Clan junior initially. Even with his strong showing in the Novice battlefield, once her power returned, such strikes would prove harmless to her. Yet, beyond White Robe's differing views, the Sheke Star heiress now viewed Ye Zhongming in a fresh light.

Earlier, Ye Zhongming's handling of Cheng Su came off as immature, laced with humorous ego. Briefly, Yisewei deemed him overly brazen. But reconsidering, she discerned his real aim.

He aimed to boost Jie Su's standing in the family. Should portions of his words today materialize later, aiding Jie Su in swaying Cheng Su, a key supporter, wouldn't be out of reach.

At minimum, he drew fire onto himself for Jie Su, prompting the Su Clan to pause before harshly disciplining the risk-taking heir.

Of course, for Ye Zhongming's moves to succeed, the core depended on Yisewei and her Sheke Star. This was blatant leveraging. Yet Yisewei welcomed it. Through White Robe, Jie Su, and Ye Zhongming, she sensed a 'shared vision' she'd only known from tales, never firsthand.

"No. You, White Robe, Jie Su, and everyone living or gone who aided me—they all preserved my life. Favors aren't cleared that simply. If so, how could I face you later?"

Ye Zhongming denied it with a shake of his head. True, he'd supported Jie Su moments ago, but he didn't view it as balancing the scales with him.

"You're more grown-up than I expected and have adjusted swiftly to this world." Here, Yisewei embodied a fitting heir to a grand lineage, not the romance-obsessed maiden known to cosmic folks.

The Sheke Star ruler had seldom meddled in Yisewei's affairs, likely seeing it as a form of shielding disguise.

"I must depart. I've arranged for my points to go to White Robe. Feel free to employ them. Once he rouses, inform him that this round, for his benefit, I've genuinely provoked my sire. I can't trail him as freely anymore. If..."

Yisewei hesitated, her eyes turning profound.

"If he recalls my worth, seek me out... But hurry. And he needs to be mighty then."

"All of you need to grow mighty."
