Apocalypse Gachapon Chapter 1843: Attack
Previously on Apocalypse Gachapon...
Helsky, locked in a desperate struggle, proved he possessed genuine combat prowess.
The commanding Evil Armor Star Person was forced to retreat after that whirling blade technique was unleashed.
Typically, creatures encased in heavy plating across their frames favor a direct combat style, often charging straight into the fray. By leveraging their immense defensive stats, they usually absorb incoming strikes and immediately retaliate, catching their foes off guard and crushing them through sheer momentum.
The fact that he chose to evade this time indicated that Helsky’s strike had surpassed the defensive threshold of his physical body.
However, as the massive warrior shifted his weight to the side, a sudden ray of light slammed into him. The lead Evil Armor Star Person let out a heavy grunt as his frame was knocked backward. Even from his distant vantage point, Ye Zhongming could see wisps of white smoke rising from the point of impact.
It was the power of the holy sigils from He’s body.
These sacred markings, which members of the Changxu Water Tribe are born with, vary in quantity between individuals. A higher count of these sigils indicates a greater level of innate talent.
As a top-tier beauty, He was clearly blessed by the heavens; her holy sigils were numerous enough to place her in the top three of her tribe's recorded history. This extraordinary gift was the reason she had managed to survive and advance even as her race faced the brink of total annihilation.
The Changxu Water Tribe and the Evil Armor Star People were ancient rivals. While the latter could easily shred the former in close quarters, the energy radiated by the tribe’s holy sigils could bypass and shatter the armored defenses of the Star People with ease.
He had just utilized her holy sigil to strike, successfully wounding the enemy commander.
Helsky’s eyes brightened as he seized the opening, charging forward with speed. As he moved, his blade-like weapon whipped toward the lower limbs of the staggering Evil Armor Star Person.
Despite their captain being hurt, the remaining Evil Armor Star People showed impressive tactical discipline, instantly transitioning from an offensive charge to a defensive formation. Two warriors stepped up to flank their leader, swinging their razor-sharp upper appendages at Helsky, while a third leaped from the rear, aiming to crush him with a descending blow.
The two scouts did not join the direct clash but maintained their distance. Utilizing the specialized armor on their shoulders, they launched two dark, shimmering armor spikes that streaked through the darkness toward two members on the edge of Helsky's group.
From their elevated position, Ye Zhongming and his two allies had a clear view of the entire conflict. Ye Zhongming noticed that a particularly short Evil Armor Star Person had already tunneled into the sand and vanished from sight.
It was obvious he intended to resurface at a critical moment to deliver a lethal strike to Helsky’s team.
Helsky and his subordinates, however, remained unaware of this hidden threat.
In truth, even if they had noticed, they lacked the luxury of worrying about it. Helsky and He were undoubtedly the strongest pair in the group, and they were currently preoccupied with attacking the downed leader of the Evil Armor Star People. Of the seven other members, four were already suffering from injuries—the lingering effects of the earlier ambush by Ye Zhongming, Jie Kui, and Shi Kangbu. Their fighting capacity was significantly diminished. Aware of their weakened state, they trailed behind Helsky, acting as a secondary wave of attack or a rear guard for their captain.
The final three members were busy holding off the other Evil Armor Star People closing in from the flanks.
“The one in the air is yours!”
Helsky barked the command, and He knew the instruction was for her. She pulled her hand away from her own injury, her eyes glowing with intensity. A beam of light, etched with arcane symbols, erupted from her torso and shot skyward, colliding with the airborne Evil Armor Star Person.
As if struck by a physical battering ram, the leaping warrior was sent flying through the air. Much like his commander, white smoke began to billow from his wounds before he even hit the ground.
Helsky didn't have a second to celebrate. The pincer attack from the two Evil Armor Star People was nearly upon him, yet he didn't flinch. He kept his weapon on its path, aiming for the legs of the enemy captain who was just beginning to find his footing.
Just as it seemed he would be sliced into three segments, two pillars of light burst from the earth, slamming into the arms of the attacking Evil Armor Star People and knocking their strikes off course.
This was clearly the energy he had funneled into the terrain earlier, though the exact nature of the technique remained a mystery.
Thud!
The blade bit deep into the lower limbs of the Evil Armor Star Person, the edge sinking into the flesh. Green fluid sprayed from the gash.
However, the momentum stopped there because the weapon became wedged.
The Evil Armor Star captain, now partially upright, looked down at the injury. Though the weapon had pierced the protective plating, the armor had clamped down on the blade, halting the depth of the wound and effectively disarming the opponent.
He let out a low chuckle, his four-eyed, mask-like visage turning toward Helsky. Four rays of obsidian light erupted from his eyes.
At such point-blank range, Helsky had no way to dodge. He could only manifest swirling vortexes of air over the targeted sections of his armor.
The impact occurred, yet it was eerily devoid of sound.
Both fighters were shoved back by the force. The Evil Armor Star captain collapsed once more, his massive frame skidding two meters across the sand, while the weapon previously stuck in his leg fell free.
Helsky fared even worse. He was hurled through the air, though the soft sand cushioned his landing and muffled the impact. He scrambled to his feet immediately, but four distinct fractures had appeared on his armor where the beams had struck, and blood began to trickle from his nose and mouth.
A sharp cry of agony echoed from the side. Helsky glanced over and saw that one of his wounded teammates had run out of luck. He had been pelted by the black spikes fired by the two snipers in the rear. Unsteady on his feet, he failed to block a follow-up strike, and an Evil Armor Star Person severed his arm. Seeing another enemy closing in on the man, Helsky could only feel a grim sense of loss.
Predictably, the crippled warrior was soon cleaved in two by the approaching Star Person.
Yet, in his final breath, the dying man slammed a palm into his killer’s chest. The impact sent the attacker tumbling onto his back, allowing a nearby ally to plunge a blade into the enemy's head. With a brutal twist, the Star Person was killed instantly.
With casualties mounting on both sides, the atmosphere was thick with bloodlust and rage. Helsky and the Evil Armor Star captain let out simultaneous roars and threw themselves back into the fight.
They were the powerhouses of their respective squads. If they didn't keep each other in check, they would quickly massacre the remaining subordinates.
Ye Zhongming and his companions watched the spectacle, finding the display of power absolutely gripping.
This was Ye Zhongming's first time witnessing a chaotic melee between so many high-level evolved beings. To be honest, since many of their supernatural powers were suppressed upon entering the wider universe, the combat lacked flashy visual effects, appearing raw and visceral.
Yet, this simplicity only made the danger more apparent. These were all elite evolved individuals; every strike carried the weight of a death sentence. A single lapse in concentration resulted in immediate execution.
In the two minutes following the first two deaths, five more lives were snuffed out.
These were all nine-star evolved beings, extinguished in the blink of an eye.
Seven had fallen in total: three from the Evil Armor Star side and four from Helsky’s group.
The initial odds of twelve against nine had shifted to nine against five, widening the disadvantage for the survivors. Helsky’s team had been forced into a purely defensive and reactive state.
“Move out!”
Ye Zhongming gave the order, and the three of them sprinted toward the heart of the battlefield.
