Apocalypse Gachapon Chapter 1835: Persuade

Previously on Apocalypse Gachapon...
The first phase of the novice trial has concluded, leaving survivors with a twelve-hour window to rest, trade, and prepare for the next stage. Despite his injuries, Ye Zhongming utilized his affinity for the sea to climb into the top thousand of the rankings, much to the frustration of Hawkins and his team. Upon returning to the camp, the Star-Eye Clan novices reunite to find their numbers diminished by the brutal competition. While searching the crowded market for affordable medicine to treat their wounds, Ye Zhongming ignores the skepticism of his companion and makes an unexpected proposal to a successful medicine seller.

Jie Kui’s remark wasn't made without reason.

After selling a vast quantity of potions, this female life form had amassed nearly one hundred and fifty points. Even if her initial score had been zero, she would still be positioned within the top two thousand ranks. But was it possible she started with nothing? Certainly not. Even if she only possessed seventy points—the threshold for the tenth person from the bottom to avoid elimination—her grand total would now exceed two hundred and twenty. This was fifty points higher than Ye Zhongming's own score, placing her firmly within the top five hundred.

Daring to say "follow me" to an individual with a higher rank and more points than yourself? This level of audacity or sheer thick-skinned confidence was truly shocking.

The female life form possessed flowing blue hair and sharp, elegant features. Despite the red mark etched into her forehead, her beauty aligned perfectly with human standards.

Only the appearance of her torso was somewhat unusual.

Her metallic armor was crafted with a feminine touch, shielding only her chest and vital areas below the waist. Indeed, this lingerie-like armor was exceptionally detailed, emphasizing a physique that was nearly flawless. The translucent fabric draping from her top and leggings added an air of seductive charm.

The strange part lay in her wrists, ankles, and thighs, which were all encircled by intricate blue patterns that matched the shade of her hair.

Upon hearing Ye Zhongming’s proposal, the female life form let out a laugh and shook her head. Her demeanor remained quite polite. Rather than offering a verbal reply, she simply resumed gathering her belongings.

"Your point total is impressive, but it’s almost entirely derived from selling medicine, isn't it? Previously, you only held ninety points and were ranked at the very bottom."

Ye Zhongming pressed on. Hearing this, Jie Kui wiped the smirk off his face and began to observe this stunningly beautiful woman with a thoughtful expression.

The female life form halted her packing, lifting her head to gaze at Ye Zhongming with a serious look.

"That isn't a difficult guess to make. At this stage, everyone’s points have stabilized. Putting aside those whose scores dropped due to purchases, those who saw an increase did so through sales. Only two individuals could have triggered such a massive surge at once. By simply tracking the point fluctuations, it is easy to identify who is who. Therefore..."

Ye Zhongming gave a shrug and let the sentence trail off.

The female life form looked at him with appreciation, her voice sounding very soft as she spoke: "Well, your observations are entirely accurate. But is that truly the reason you want me to join you?"

Although Ye Zhongming wasn't trained in lip-reading, he was a top-tier evolved being, and her facial structure was remarkably human-like. He could interpret most of her meaning from the movement of her mouth. With Jie Kui assisting from the side, the two managed to communicate without much trouble.

"Of course not. I am saying this simply to prove that I am not acting on a whim or being reckless."

Ye Zhongming gestured as he explained: "Based on the regulations of the novice battlefield, there are two primary methods to accumulate points rapidly: the first is cooperation to exploit bonus rules; the second is killing to utilize the plunder rules."

"Regarding the first method, cooperation, success depends on having more people and a variety of races. One can foresee that in the later stages of this battlefield, the powerful, social creatures on the list will become primary targets. A single hunt could yield thousands or tens of thousands of points, providing huge dividends to all participants."

"Look around you. The novices are communicating intensely. They are all preparing for this path. In perhaps one or two more cycles, massive temporary teams will begin to form on a large scale."

The female evolved watched Ye Zhongming with visible interest. Though she maintained a calm aura, there was a hint of teasing in her eyes.

Ignoring it, Ye Zhongming continued: "The second path is using the plunder rules to kill—this has already begun. Truthfully, the risk is immense, and the efficiency is low during these early stages."

At these words, Jie Kui couldn't help but roll his eyes.

Big brother, you’ve already slaughtered four people yourself.

"The real horror will manifest in the final stages. By then, every survivor will be wealthy with points. Killing just one person could be worth days of manual labor. It is in the nature of all life to seek shortcuts. The final two cycles are going to be absolute madness."

Ye Zhongming laid out his assessment of the situation.

On this point, both the idling Jie Kui and the previously unimpressed female life form found themselves in agreement.

They were all nine-star evolved. Beings at this level were more than just ruthless; they existed on a different plane of logic. For the sake of their interests, they could transform into heroes, tyrants, or even cowards.

They would unite into the most unbreakable teams to fight for points, yet they could just as easily turn their blades against their companions to climb higher and reach further.

"What you say makes sense, but how does it relate to me?"

The female life form smirked. If Ye Zhongming couldn't provide a substantial argument, she was ready to depart.

"It relates to you completely."

This time, her words were brief, and Ye Zhongming read them easily.

"If someone wants to farm points, what kind of target yields the most? Naturally, it’s someone like you who possesses a high score."

"But I intend to spend them. I’m going to use them right now."

"You won't spend everything. You'll always need to retain a balance to stay on the leaderboard. And if I'm right, your points will only continue to grow. Eventually, you will look like a prime target to everyone else."

If Jie Kui didn't know for a fact that Ye Zhongming was deaf, he wouldn't have believed it based on this conversation.

"What are you implying?" For the first time, the female life form showed a flash of irritation and impatience.

"What I mean is..." Ye Zhongming took a deep breath, knowing his next words were critical. If he could convince her, he would gain a perfect teammate. If not, his future trials would be far more grueling.

"A person like you, who isn't built for direct combat, requires a battle-hardened partner. Furthermore, I can provide the specific help you need—for instance, materials harvested from aquatic life. Or perhaps... the specific land-based plants required for your medicine."

This statement caused the female life form to momentarily lose her composure. Although she recovered quickly, it was clear that Ye Zhongming had hit the mark.

He pushed his advantage: "You have a medicine-making profession with low combat stats. Your craft specifically requires materials from aquatic life, yet you also need terrestrial herbs. Your method for gaining points isn't traditional hunting; instead, you hunt weak marine creatures for parts, gather land plants, process them into medicine, and sell them for points!"

"I can help you hunt high-level marine life and secure rare vegetation that is difficult to find on land. This will allow you to craft superior potions for even more points. Additionally... I will ensure your safety until the novice battlefield concludes."
